Daaamn it's so fun to see someone with your skill kajak. It's like you're just hovering over the water :O What do you think about the phrase "Never paddle alone"? Is it something that specifically applies to less experienced people or is it just nonsense

It is a tricky one. In theory sure : never paddle alone. But do you always do what you're being told ? I don't. Sometimes it just feels good to do something by yourself and get some alone time. Going on the river or in the mountain alone is not recommended but I like it. It helps me clear my mind. I don't think experience and paddling skills have anything to do with it. You can go solo on a lake or on class 1. It is something very personal, there are many reasons why people go paddle alone : mindset, logistics, different style of paddling...Individuals are complex and I think it is too simplistic to either say just yes or no.

It's an obvious dilemma: if you get in trouble while solo paddling, you can rely only on yourself. It's a higher risk. But there sure is some charm being by yourself (until you get stuck somewhere, then it's a mess).
