Back in 1979 I was 17 years old and living in the mountains of East Tennessee. At that time I had bought a 8 year old 1972 Nova Rally Sport for ONLY $300 (Yeah I remember when cars were selling cheap then) That Nova did some great burnouts and I loved that car! Fast forward to 2015: I live in Ohio now. Took m wife back to the old hometown and show her around the old neighborhood.. I lived on a mountain top which only had 5 homes there. Low and behold I could not believe my eyes. There it was 36 ears later and there was one of my burnout that I did in front of the house that was still as black as the day I did it in 1979. I remember doing that particular burnout. I thought how as that possible and realized that it was most likely due to very very light traffic, after all it is a few houses anyway. Still it was a great memory and it was great fun driving that Nova.

Treetop468 Is it just me ,or are power brake burn out not as impressive as just nailing the throttle, we always regarded that as cheating

This Nova is a near clone of what I was playing with 45 years ago . Two observations here , first; never do burnouts in front of where you live . You think that the cops don't notice the rubber marks ? Second ; without proper oil pan baffling , continuous donuts in the same direction causes the oil to walk up the side of the pan and away from the oil pick-up , and causes the pump to lose prime . With the car sitting up like that , it's so much easier to get out and get under the damn thing . Clutch adjustments , pulling the mufflers , changing the starter , or the oil .

None of the burnouts I did in any of these videos were in front of my house lol. Also the car had a 7 quart moroso pan. I’m sure it never hurt the pump. And most of the time if I went to a car show and did burnouts, the cops were there and allowed it. In the second half of the video where I’m burning the tires off, the sheriff was actually there at the show and loved watching everyone do burnouts. Which is why I brought extra wheels and tires.

Actually it’s a 350! Just has 396 badges haha. And I sold it to my dad last year which is why I don’t keep posting videos about it. But whenever he gets it out this year I can do a walk around video!

I was Just Wondering If You Were Going To Be Doing Any more Burnout Videos With The Nova??? And If So, Could You Do Some Burnouts Over Different Objects Like Soda Cans, Plastic Bottles, Sewer Grates, Manhole Covers, Sticks/Tree Branches, Etc.????? You Have To Admit That That Would Be Fun To Do And Watch!!!!!!

Thank you! When I bought the car it had a Muncie M21 and a 12 bolt with a 4.11 gear. I swapped it to a tremec tkx 5 speed and a built 12 bolt moser rear with a 5.13 gear. I’ll post an up close video of the car this spring sometime and go over all the specs 👍

Just gonna say that I like the car, but if the rear end is lower, the weight transfer will make this car REALLY smoke those tires. I've got personal experience in that category.

The first half of the video are older clips when the car had a 4 speed and 4.11 gear. Second half of the video is a 5 speed and 5.13 gear. For instance, the clip at 4:53 and 5:27 are both in 3rd gear.
