Thanks for showing how to install. I just ordered one from summit. Ordered gaskets but you said to use a gasket maker and longer bolts. I will see if I also might need longer bolts. My car is a 1973 GRANDAM 455 4-speed / 10 bolt differential as well . Now I can do it with ease hopefully. Thanks again 👍

Good job catching the bolt issue - counterbores for holes keep threads away from surface as it helps preserve flatness and not every setup is necessarily the same. Long term, I don't like seeing anything important with less than 4 thread engagement. The load bolts for bearing caps do not need much beyond being snubbed up - I like 54in/lbs. Jam nuts don't need much either: 10ft/lbs usually does fine [as done in this install]. If you like inspecting things once in a while, as posi demands... a lubelocker gasket gets rid of adhesive mess, associated cure time, and is reusable to boot.

Are you supposed to silicone the bolt threads that hold the cover on? I’m hearing different things. I don’t think you need to personally

I didn't put any silicone o the bolt threads they are bored and tapped into the casing with no through holes into the casing so theu shouldn't leak from there I did make sure to get an even layer on the whole surface of the flange. Thanks for watching

I usually don't wear gloves, but when handling that silicone shit, you are damn sure I do. That crap will fukc up your week if you get it in your nose. Believe me when I tell you this.

😂I hear ya. you ever get PL construction adhesive on tour skin? that stuff dosen't come off.
