That's exactly what I have going on with a 1927 model 101. The poor thing is so filthy, I got it yesterday and have just been cleaning everything. Long way to go yet, thanks for the tip.

I nearly went insane one day until I realised I had the stop motion washer in the wrong way! It is intuitive to put it in the wrong way.

My stop wheel doesn't come off...it raises and lowers the needle, but will not come loose
@novamontgomery53742 жыл бұрын
I'm very happy to help! There are a couple of things to note here -- The stop motion knob should unscrew after the stop screw (this is the one that I tell you in the video does not need to be removed - just loosened so the head is totally visible) is loosened. It may just be stuck from old oil. Try carefully standing the machine on the hook end and soak this area with kerosene over several hours using kerosene. The hand wheel is the large black wheel. It is what you should be using to raise and lower the needle - not the stop motion knob. The drops of kerosene will loosen this up as well. Don't be afraid of the kerosene damaging something as it runs into the machine - it will not. It will take quite a bit of kerosene to fill this area (like a well) to get it to where it needs to be to access the threads on the knob and the hand wheel bushing. Of course, the machine is always unplugged when you are working on it. A better way of communicating with me is through my email - nova@novamontgomery.com. That way our conversation is searchable for me for the future.

Could you use a brush on it??

Yes, as long as you were very careful that no bristles were left behind.

Hi, I have the same machine and problem. My was very clean in the inside. Wipe it likely it and put it back as you did. It still did not stop the Motion:( I see that yours either. Did you get to fix yours after the video? Thank you for sharing:)

Yes. I continued to hold the thread uptake lever as I demonstrated, and it was just fine.

Hi, I'm desperate to get my mother's 201k machine working but don't know where to start with it. The needle is not moving up and down at all and I'm not sure where to grease or how to remove the balance wheel etc to see what is inside. Any help very much appreciated.Joanne

Hi, I'm not very familiar with the 201k. My first guess would be that you have a thread jam (machine is frozen or locked up). Kerosene will dissolve the thread if applied consistently over a little while. Make certain the the stop motion knob is tightened up (rotated away from you). Next, I would thoroughly clean the mechanical workings of the machine (with kerosene) to remove old goo, etc. that could be causing problems.

When you oil this wheel, where do you oil it? Your hand was in front and I didn't see where you oiled it.
@novamontgomery53747 жыл бұрын
nancy cogar inside, where the threads are

Nova Montgomery ok!!! Thank you!

Since you are not soaking up the kerosean in anyway, doesn't it counteract the effects of the oil?
