I would love to help you with pronouncing the names of places in Nova Scotia. Best video I've seen in awhile. Thank you.

Waverley was a gold mining town. Montague is known as "Montague Mines". There was a large gold rush in these areas back in the mid-to-late 1900's. The yearly celebration that Waverley has is called "Waverley Gold Rush Days".

Nice, thank you for that info, wondering if those mines were completely tapped out...

@@BravuraMediaCompany No sir 30% of what they pulled out still sits in those hills. American hill pulled the most gold I believe.

The map is backwards. The solid red dots are where Gold was found. They are mostly all old gold mine sites. The hollow circles are where there is a high probability of gold.

Fun Map, I've been out to a bunch of these sites on my mountain bike (Grew up in Yarmouth, now live in Halifax) It's pretty common to run into prospectors in many of these locations. Is there a scan available of this map? It's lots of fun to learn about these old operations and go ride around on the old roads, amy of witch are still there and very mountain bike-able :)

Not alot of placer gold here. Most is in quartz. Best spot to look for placer gold would be at the ovens park. That is really the only spot that I know of that has available placier gold. I go to eastern nova Scotia to an old mine and find nuggets locked in quartz.

New subscriber! I am loving this! I have a channel with urban explorations, metal detecting and Magnet fishing. If you could find some kind of a map of known old dump sites (that might have been cleaned up or not) that would be AWESOME! I know there used to be a dump right near the shore in Grosses Coques, Clare, NS (Big Clams would be the literal translation but we just say it in Acadian French) Thanks for the information! funny 1906 is about when my granny and her older brothers went to boston she never talked about cape breton island. from the highlands to the islands. NS was not the destination of our 1000 year trek. its a long way.
