Oh and the sound of water rushing releases endorphins. I'm sure it in a journal somewhere too. But I love my fishtank water tinkling. I used to have a beautiful table fountain but it kept running dry. Found out the silly cats love to drink running water and would drain it. We bought them a drink fountain. In my mining district in Oregon when we find gold with the white in them , it ended up being mercury! They were using sluce’s in the creek and would dump mercury in them to recover the gold out of them . My guess is quite possible that’s what was going on there !
@patdexter91883 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, I've seen that to! I've even found copper plates instead of carpet, in small sections usually lower in the sluice to try and catch smaller pieces. They would from time to time pull them scrape off the amalgamated mercury and add more to it because some alway washed off. They didn't know or care about the dangers of mercury just wanted that yellow suff! The Chinese used copper plates alot to, you could always tell where they mined because they stacked rocks perfectly to make walkways and walls. And found alot of gold after the miners moved on. They got jealous of the Chinese! Alot were murdered and robbed! Sad what happened back then.

really excited for part 2, been a while since i followed a youtuber this closely! you have a wealth of knowledge and kindness that you display so perfectly! i think most of the gold is gonna be locked up in those big blobs of rust. i suspect there was also a great deal of iron stone dropping out which would rust right next to the bigger nuggets. that silvery stuff could be mercury amalgam where the mercury content is really low, other than that ive only ever seen gold covered with limonte, or manganese oxide but im a desert dweller! you probably have seen more than me.

i heard of the old time miners doing things like that, i even found a type of sluice carved in the bed rock of an old dryed out river bed once, it replenishes with every flood so far,, it only has fine gold no nuggets or pickers ut the way i see it gold is gold and it all adds up when freeze up comes along, i was hoping that would have been packed with gold, cant wait for part 2

I would have loved kayaking that river back when I was paddling. Looks like a blast and with higher water could be some good rapids. The blue water is unreal. Your enthusiasm made my day. What a great hobby. I hope you find the mother lode.

If as you said the people who placed that sluice dumped material down that hillside into the river over the sluice, you might want to sample that hillside to see if there is gold in it that never made it to the river. Good luck in part 2.

Interesting find. I personally got into prospecting back when GPAA/LDMA were on local channels and then on satellite. I only prospected in my state of Georgia both at outings and by myself on weekends. I sold all of my equipment, the pans, sluice, pump and so on because I moved to the only US state that probably has no gold, Hawaii. Something about getting into warm water and not having damp, cold hobbies was appealing to me! I think the only way to find gold out here in with a metal detector along the popular visitor beaches!

My question is this, since a lot of the gold in ^this type of environment is going to be very, VERY fine grained, how much of it gets missed and unknowingly dumped back out of the pan along with the rest of the fine grained sediment? Even if you can see a bit of it mixed in with the other sediment in the pan, can you successfully separate and collect it?

I always feel really happy for you when you find something new and you make it so easy to share in the excitement. Thank you! Also really motivates me to get a detector and get out there in the future and give it a go.

Awww Dan I hope your butt and back are okay after falling in the river!! I worry about you going out all alone what if when you fell you broke your leg and were stuck there!! You should have either someone helping you film or looking for gold just so nothing happens!! I love your videos and would be so sad if something bad happened!! Otherwise keep up the great work can't wait for part 2 I'm really hoping you find a bunch of good pieces!! I'm praying for you buddy!!🙏

I live in a rural town and that actually happened to an older fellow I know. He went out to go fishing. Slipped on some rocks in the river and broke his leg. He was out there for several days yelling for help before someone stumbled upon him and he was flight for life’s out.

Woah you can see the amount of scrapping that picker has taken over the yard from all the debris passing by! That’s phenomenal and shows that gold will stay trapped even if things scraped past it at one point or another.

Dan, it looks like the nuggets were caught tight in the grating, unable to move and had several years of water running around them depositing that whitish layer.
