I adopted Nova on May 8th, 2022, as a reassignment.
This past weekend, Nova was introduced to what I like to call "the big girl saddle". This thing weighs approximately 40lbs, and has all the things-flank cinch, ties traps, heavy rawhide stirrups, etc.
Once a horse is used to my little saddle, I throw all over their back as well as cinching up and such, I introduce them to a saddle like this. She had only one minor bucking freak out, and that was it. Afterwards we did our groundwork to recover, some free lunging to get her mind on me and any extra feels out. Then we went out of the round pen!
We walked the property near the road, under trees, and even did some obstacles.
This little pony is truly coming along so nicely!
