Novak sure was trying his best to avoid hashing through the deliberations via the press...pretty nervy of the reporter to think he should be privy to those discussions anyway - the press really grates on my nerves with their hubris in thinking that they have to have an ear (and voice) in these sorts of deliberations, as if they are a necessary monitor of the process and outcome. Their reputation has never been great, and is sinking by the day, and this journalist is a perfect example of that.

@@miroslavvarga3707 Wow, the arrogance of Novak fans always astound me. You're putting your guy on a pedestal while demeaning all the others. That's one of the main reasons Novak's fan base is the most hated one and he has no crowd support when playing Nadal or Federer. You guys act religious about it and think of him as a God. He is a human being? And the others are not? Nadal or Federer or Murray don't work on themselves in aspects of life other than tennis? Do you actually follow tennis or just Novak? Put the reporter in his place. I personally think though Nole should stay away from such questions, seems like a deliberate ploy to distract/malign him by some agenda driven journalists.
@GamesJoblin5 жыл бұрын
As Novak hinted, tennis (same as general) journalism is too clickbaity and irresponsible for him to have fully open communication, these folks tend to pull words out of context, create drama and all that. Plus I guess he is irritated by quite some sensationalistic hit pieces written against him recently, say Guardian's "series" come to mind (speaking of agenda...). Also his position in the council and the No1 rank in sport do oblige in ways people can't or don't want to understand. Pointing fingers and asking questions is the easiest thing in the world and that journo was obviously trying to provoke him. What I am ACTUALLY interested in are neither Justin nor Chris, but Nole's attempt to re-distribute money towards "lesser" players and young talents that would otherwise quit - we are potentially talking about thousands of players and hundreds of millions of money. As usual in politics, whenever someone tries to touch the money - hit pieces and smears start; and of course the given reasons almost always have nothing to do with the real topic.
@ajinkyakarpe25025 жыл бұрын
@@GamesJoblin Yes, I think out of the 100s of articles, there was probably only 1 that actually interviewed a lower rank player and got their opinion, who was obviously in favour of Novak. None of the other so called journalists wanted to show the real side of Novak, very sad. I guess keep winning titles and shut their mouths.
@goxyeagle84465 жыл бұрын
It's a big question what they consider by giving more money to young players, how far would that go. Tennis is and always was sport for wealthy people. I'm afraid he's gonna bring some trashy guys into tennis by this change.. it's very tricky.
@brankom32615 жыл бұрын
@@goxyeagle8446 I can tell you that all the younger Serbian players having some success on tour now (Djere, Krajinovic, Kecmanovic) did not come from wealth and privilege. The same goes for Novak. I agree with you that it is tricky, but putting some extra money in the pockets of younger guys will give them motivation to continue playing (including travel and expenses related to being a professional tennis player) and dream big.
@GamesJoblin5 жыл бұрын
@@goxyeagle8446 As @Branko Miladinovic said, sometimes just a plane ticket or a couple nights in the hotel can mean a world of difference to a talented beginner. The tricky part is to separate some rich folks from "their" money, rather than how to re-distribute (the simplest way appears to be by increasing the lower rewards).

@TheTmat0075 жыл бұрын
@@beniteztheconman Well hey, that's your opinion. I do understand that we live in a world in which some (if not most) people determine whether or not a person is likeable just by taking ONE LOOK at the individual. If they like what they see, they like the individual. On the other hand, some folks do not even want to show the person respect, if they do not like what they see. Much like the rest of us, Nadal isn't perfect. There are some things about him that even I as a fan do not like. But when I put the plus and minuses together, I find that there is more that I LIKE than what I DISLIKE, regarding Nadal. That is how I determine whether or not a person is "likeable."

@@beniteztheconman So, how is Nadal a "cheating cunt who will do anything to win"? Please explain. And his refusal to smash his racket like some other players do (Djokovic, including), when they're being outplayed by their opponent, is part of what you would describe as having "zero personality"? To me, amongst the Big 3, Nadal has the finest personality. And I'm sure even Federer would agree. After all, back at the 2009 AO trophy presentation, it was Nadal's kind and encouraging words that gave a tearful Federer the courage or motivation to get back on stage and finish his speech. Nadal is amongst the most humble and nicest athletes and persons. But I do find that he needs to work on the amount of time he takes between points (although it has been better since they enforced the shot clock). And I am also not a fan of the rituals that he does on court. But for me, those things don't make him "unlikeable."

He really did so well to answer that discussion,if he's the right guy to be president of the council,I don't know,but he's definitely a honest person and I sure he wants the best for the sport,and I agree with him about them putting a lot of pressure in one guy just because he's the leader,they need to analise all the process before making a fuss about a story,despite all those problems off court,Novak still playing some good tennis and I think that's what he needs to worry,no so much in ATP politics.

Ben Rothenberg still hasn’t recovered from this. He still digs for ways to slander Novak’s name on a daily basis. I hope this “man” finds peace.

Champ needs to focus on playing tennis and forget this players council and being president of that bullshit irrelevant council, he Must win both Rome and French open trophy to break 2 more records.. 1st man to win all 4 grand slams in a row consecutively more than twice and Most 1000 masters won ever .

not a fan of Nole, but loved his level of profesionalism and how he handled that douche in cold blood. Very good.

Chuck the discussion about the technicalities for a moment, even though Nole meticulously explained them, just the sheer, intentional targetting and restlessness of the journalist says a lot about his motivations. People like that should just get lost!

He is a known Djokovic hater. Everyone who follows the world of tennis know that dude, and he always paints Djokovic in bad light. The name is Ben Rothenberg btw.

Am ashamed to be British watching this/following the whole Kermode saga. Disgraceful treatment of Djokovic by British media and Rothenberg et al. They're always (unfairly) out to get him. Hope people realise this isn't attitude of British people at large....... Only British journalist who is ever honest on Djokovic is Matthew Syed. Hope Novak proves them wrong in next few months #goat

Nole is great! Not only in tennis, but also in IQ! I'd like to pay more to watch him playing tennis! And I'd like to pay even more to listen his seminar in the future! Tennis need Novak! Fans need Novak!

Nole is the real example of an intelligent and educated boy,great athlete.His answers prove it.I do not talk about tennis results..because everyone know how much he is good.He is real champion...And this journalist is not professional and objective.As much he does not like Novak, he should have respect for champion...Novak have respect for him as soon as he answers questions.There is Novak's size...that journalist can learn something from Novak .... such as professionalism and respect for who you are.Nole you are the best...stay calm like always and do not let it provoke a fool.

Well done Nova(c). You do well as tennis player and President of council. They don't like you thete coz you are Easteuropean - simple as that! You are the best out there - I'm pretty sure you are on your way to make history in tennis by breaking Rogers and Nadal s record. Wondering how will they criticise you then 😂😂😂🇧🇪🇧🇪🎾🎾. GO out there and be the * wall* 😂😂💪💪

I can't believe that I saw some real conversation... good provocative question (of course the good old corporate interest to create friction...) and well-articulated response on ND side. I would love to see more of this kind of questions.
