Djokovic in 2011 not only played his best tennis and won but he completely turned around his rivalry with Fedal. Its not easy to do that having lost to them so many times. Once he did that, he almost never lost to them again. There were close matches of course, but he was "extra" motivated to win and had that self belief to come through tough moments.
@pot_kivach1602 ай бұрын
That "extra motivated" belongs to his mindset. Everything Djokovic achieved came from there. When he dominates - he wins. When his opponent has a good day - Djoko just REFUSE to lose!

What is so special about Novak? 2011 was historically the best season ever for any player, but in 2021 and 2023, 11 and 14 years later, he was overwhelmingly dominating like he did in 2011, may be even a shade higher. It is this consistentcy at the highest level which has transmogrified him to be the Greatest Athelete in the history of any sport.

He played either poorly or didn't do enough and Novak made sure he would not give the matches up easily . His mindset was like if you want to win you will have to earn it , I won't give anything away for free . There will always be debates about what is the best prime version player, fed 06-07 or 17, Djoko 11, 15-16 or 21, but what makes the debate absolutely clear is that each and every version of those had some asterisks, fed didn't have to face blossomed djoker, Djoko at 15 didn't have to face healthy rafa, fed 17 didn't have to face healthy Djokovic, Djokovic 21 didn't have to face fed. But, Djokovic 2011 had literal no asterisks like that, fed was perfectly healthy in his youth, so was rafa, and Delpo and Murray, and to dominate like Djoker did, you gotta be the absolute GOAT.
