I agree it's the logical awnser to think proactively not re actively but what do you do when the situation arrives at your front door? You have to have a plan to protect yourself. What even is class these days? Most 'working class' people I grew up with have hardened into reactionary right wingers. Those that are more to the left are also more intelligent, at least emotionally but they're from the same or similar families so identical working class backgrounds but making different life choices and having different responses to life's challenges. In Britain if you arm the proletariat you arm and create the far-right, most left leaning people are repulsed by violence, where'as the right revells in it as a way of projecting their self hatred onto others, usually people they deem weaker or somehow inferior but are actually threatened by, as a challenge to their own self emancipation which they lack the courage and self acceptance to embark upon, hence why they indulge in 'blaming the other'. Maybe love, not guns is the answer, always going to be outnumbered by the right with violence and weapons, not that I'm a pacifist persee.

I never actually got to meet them. I "joined" online during COVID and all they did was provide me with some free firearm instruction which I am massively grateful for. My instructor was a former Navy diver and he took a few hours to explain the basics to me. Printed guns are legal if there is some sort of metal tab embedded in the weapon. It is illegal for it to be undetectable by a metal detector. A detectable printed gun is perfectly legal to own federally. Some state laws vary about serial number requirements for the firearm and notifying the state about its production, but they are legal.

I think another factor to consider is that a big part of being a responsible gun owner is knowing when to NOT own guns. I agree with the very sentiment shared by the SRA, especially when homie said that we’re way past the point of escalation. But, I myself, haven’t purchased a gun because I struggle with alcohol addiction as well as mental health issues. The problem with the right, is that they don’t give a fuck about responsibility.

Both yes and no, it heavily varies and what this mentality is, is simply stereotyping a class of people. We’re not robots, we’re capable of emotions. I speak for myself, an infantryman with two deployments in Afghanistan. Also, you’re basically shunning away the people with the most knowledge and experience behind a gun, so that logic doesn’t necessarily make sense.

I highly recommend people of color and members of the LGBTQ community own and learn to use guns, it’s your right. I have taken quite a few of my liberal friends to the range and taught them gun safety/function. Guns in this country shouldn’t be political. Again, it’s your right also

I shot a gun (16 gauge shot gun, 22 rifle, and an absolutely amazing Remington 7600 pump action) for the first time over Christmas with my cousins. Previous to that I only wanted to learn about guns because I wanted to be able to disable them quickly. But now I get it. Aside from the fun and the sense of confidence and security, the community and culture around guns is a lot more varied and accessible than I would have expected, especially as a leftist. I’m so glad to know that organizations like this exist.

I grew up Right wing in the 80s South, so ive known guns all my life. I veered left as a teen and stayed Left ever since, but i kept my guns. I understand both sides, though right wing gun culture has grown more and more paranoid, militaristic and murderous. I would say I’m center right ish with some left leaning social views, I am also a gun owner. This is important, guns aren’t a right/left issue. They are a cat is out of the bag issue, there’s more guns than people in American and the man power to collect all of them is logistically impossible. Meaning it’s important that we protect law abiding gun owners on the left and right. I appreciated this video but your concluding summary is kind of incorrect. Unserialized weapons obviously didn't start only with 3D printing and weapon distribution has always been decentralized. So much so that a serial # only reveals the manufacturer and original point of sale but not ownership as people can privately sell weapons. Even when the gun is serialized, that doesn't magically name someone responsible as the weapon could have been lost, stolen or sold privately.
