Zarah Sultana was my local MP until the boundary changes. She gives about £20,000 a year to local food banks and helped me when I reached out to her. I've met her too, she's the most down to earth, genuine person I've ever met and always wants to support the most vulnerable in society. Now she's getting punished for voting for such people. I'm disgusted with this decision. I never thought I'd see an autocratic Labour PM

@@yomismo6969 It means that her membership of the party is under review. Being an MP is not affected, however, she may not be able to call herself a Labour MP. I'm not sure on that bit, whether she is still a Labour MP until thrown out of the party, or no longer a Labour MP unless she is cleared of all charges. She has no need to resign as an MP, she has done nothing that her constituents would disapprove of, nothing obviously inconsistent with her pitches to constituents during the election campaign. She has five years to prepare to repeat what Jeremy Corbyn managed in Islington North - defeat a Starmer candidate in a General Election.

@@RobinHarris-nf4yv I think we should be wary of giving them any benefit of the doubt because they did one good thing. Under Blair poverty decreased dramatically and yet they perpetrated the Iraq war and further entrenched private finance interests in our public services. It lay the foundations for what the Tories were able to do, we cannot let the next 5 years go to waste the way the Blair years were by failing to dismantle the neoliberalist structures that we know to entrench poverty, inequality and increase the wealth and assets of the super rich. We are in incredibly treacherous territory and I would feel sorry for any Labour voter putting their faith in a party and government entertaining big business, private interests and foreign money over that of the workers and the people

Under Blair they were the first to start privatising the NHS ! Yes, things were better but when you have Margret Thatcher thanking Blair for doing what she didn’t!!! Speaks Volumes. During Blair’s tenure he sold Public Land & public nursing homes, don’t be fooled. Streeting has accepted loads of dosh 💰. It’s our health system, Labour is not Democratic & anyone that entrusts in like the Tories will be disappointed. We need a more social Independent candidates (that aren’t backed by corporations) but us & the Greens 💚.

Yes, you are, but it may have consequences. Being a member of a political party means you sign up to party doctrine. An Independent MP may vote at all times for what they think is right, but it's much harder to be elected as an Independent. Jeremy Corbyn managed it, though.
