Awesome stuff, I just got a 77 Nova Concours my Grandmother bought new in 1977. It's a 305 and all original, all there nothing is missing. It has 46K actual miles. Reading about it I think it has a TH 200 transmission. This was a surprise to me, I don't know what the TH 200 is.

the 8.5 differential will have the multileaf spring pads in lieu of the monoplates

Hi I have a question that I think would be good for a video. Is there any factory axle I could swap from another GM vehicle that will fit my 4th Gen Nova that will include a good positraction differential AND rear disk brakes included?
@GDG1845 жыл бұрын
More than likely no, there may be some that are close but you probably would have a better time using a rear disc conversion kit and either putting a posi unit from summit in or finding a 8.5 with posi and then do a disc brake conversion for the 8.5, I'm sure they make a kit for the 8.5 rears to convert them to disk brakes. If you got a rear with posi and discs you would likely have to have a shop shorten the axle tubes, get custom axles to go with it and then get custom mounts welded onto it.. In the long run I think it would be better to build a convert a 8.5.

My brother just got a rear end out of a 87 or 88 trans am and it has posi that I wanna put in my novas 8.5 but with the research I've done it seems that it likely is a 7.5, do you know if theres a chance that it could be a 8.5?
@NovaResource5 жыл бұрын
Classic Car Garage Unfortunately, it’s probably highly likely the rear from the T/A is a 7.5”

@@NovaResource okay thanks I'll be on the hunt for 8.5 posi units, probably just gonna buy a new one

Hey, I wanna put some wider tires on my 78 Nova (4 door, 250). The car is riding kinda low and I may need to replace the springs. What do you think?
@NovaResource6 жыл бұрын
Travis Mims If the car is low then you should at least check the springs. The rear leaf springs on my Nova were rusted through. Half the leaves broke in half when I removed them.

I’ve got a 72 nova with a 8.2 10 bolt not 8.5
@NovaResource3 жыл бұрын
Are you sure it’s a ‘72? Also, are you sure it’s an 8.2” and it’s original? All 1972 Novas had an 8.5” from the factory.
@kevsweat3 жыл бұрын
@@NovaResource I’m positive if you google it it says they had 10 bolt 8.2s through 72
@kevsweat3 жыл бұрын
@@NovaResource First of all, the 8.2-inch 10-bolt rearend came in Chevy and B-O-P (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) versions; for our purposes, that means it was found in '62-67 Chevy II/Novas and various Novas, Chevelles, and El Caminos through the '72 model year

@@kevsweat I’m positive you are mistaken. I have documentation to prove it. Have you actually looked at your rear or are you just assuming?

@@kevsweat Not in 1972 Novas.

The 8.2 is stronger than what some give credit for. They're not as strong as the 8.5 but they're stronger than the 7.5. I saw where someone was running 11's in the ¼ with an 8.2 in his Nova.
