Usually you don't want to download things into a container, but mount --bind a external partition/drive/network drive where it downloads (and store .torrent files in). Just a side note. Thank you for the Portainer templete you're constructing.

Really nice tutorial again. Love the series as it makes me want to start using containers. As I have a fair collection of pi’s already I want to use one for testing and another for production. So a topic I would appreciate is how to move a configured container from one pi to another, or like a backup restore solution for the entire setup (if that is applicable or not)

Until recently, I had a VM doing pretty much the same thing. It was running Deluge and PIA for years. I had iptables set up to only allow outgoing connections to PIA's addresses on the Ethernet interface. I had a little script that denied everything then grepped over all of PIA's *.ovpn files to allow the correct addresses through. It sure looks like this sort of thing is quite a bit more accessible now!

Some questions though, you were about to say how to test the client was using the VPN then edited the answer out, I'd be interested to know how you can be sure its going through the VPN and not bypassing it. I've spent most of this week trying to work with SOCKS5 and deluge before giving up as using iftop or iptraf-ng on the interface showed it was often going straight out the docker0 interface. I've tested curl to check the VPN is up but is there a way to ensure transmission is? Alternative would be a PIA only docker and a transmission docker that is using the same network using - -net=container. Any thoughts??

Two questions: I have PiVPN running on a separate raspberry pi with Wireguard running along with pi hole and unbound--how to I configure transmission to use this VPN? Second question is how do I get the png images from pi hosted git hub? I tried git clone command but I must be doing something wrong (probably a novice mistake)?

Hi and thanks for a great tutorial. In my RPi portainer all seems to be "healthy" but when trying to connect to "my_ip-range":9091, a login with username and password is required? Have you also run into this and do you have any ideas on how to log in?

I am really hoping you will do one with interacting with NFS or SMB storage. The bulk of my storage is hosed on 2 storage devices. NFS isn't working well because it doesn't allow the system to chown the folders breaking installs.

Working fine except for openVPN high CPU usage. It would be great to have an image with Wireguard. Other things to consider: - Not all PIA servers have open ports - You should inform private trackers that you are using a VPN

I fought this for hours. I went with a plain transmission install since I have VPN on pfsense on a vlan. I could not d/l linux. I went back to this video and saw the tweaks you made after to make it work and boom it works. My logs showed no errors. I'm all caught up. Whats next jellyfin?

Nginx Proxy Manager should do the job, however you need to create an mariadb container first.

Thanks for video.Why via vpn? I mean if we directly use torrent transmission, what's the risk? Another question is how can we change the webbrowser logo for Homer? We can change all but when i open the homer i see the logo for chrome,firefox etc

depends the on the content your are trying to download, in most case if you are downloading stuff like ubutnu iso images, then no you would not need a vpn. vpn is to encrypt the traffic so your ISP will not know what you are trying to download. as for the HOMER logo. check out PART 2 again. in the configs around first or second line you can see where you can change the LOGO

I wish someone could have made this for qBittorrent, I was pulling my hair out trying to get qBittorrent working in a Docker with OpenVPN. This method of installing Transmission was much simpler.

I think I read, that once qBittorent is setup with open VPN, you wont be able to access it anymore through your browser because the VPN connection means its now outside your network.
