I like a lot of the changes, especially to the sample flip and 32 step patterns. Scenes are a nice edition but still limited, really needs a way to set the number of times they loop before progressing. Without there's not enough to sequence an entire song (and why I'm selling on my original circuit). Keen for the rhythm if they add this ability.
@joseluisfernandez34533 жыл бұрын
Do you think they will add that tho? (I mean it'd be great) the overlay of the Rhythm looks almost the same and besides any feature regarded to the sampling ability/tweaking it looks like it will be just as powerful and limited as the Tracks when it comes to the sequencer I'm kinda skeptical because I was longing for the Rhythym and now want the tracks cause I can't wait so long

So it does have screen to show BPM! :) Handy interaction to sequencer, automation, etc to my taste. Kinda beats bulkier standalones/controllers in one less expensive package (skipping less needed, more expensive components). Just with it could record audio-in into a single pad sample (don't need any editing on a sample. Just to capture performance from external synth, possibly driven by NC)

Yes, "don't want to do weird things to your thing" - got it! :) just kidding, you explained it al good, making scenes (not necessary copy pattern, but seems possible to copy and change) and chaining them (alike NI M+, but less brain twister between scenes and clips) is also intuitive! 16 scenes total?

Great video, as always. Long time lurker, first time commenter. But I'm not sure I actually agree with you regarding the metronome. If you think about it, in a DAW environment it makes sense to have the downbeat be a different audible pitch because you're dealing with count-ins. Without a count-in, theres no real reason to have the audible difference, because playback and record are tied together. Like, when you press play, it automatically starts the click, and most people are gonna wait for four counts then go, especially with the big flashing visual grid in front of you. It's just natural to do. But by not having the audible difference, it actually enables you to perhaps be more creative about it, perhaps starting your groove on a different starting pulse than the first. Now the lack of audible difference becomes a strength, because you don't have a distracting audible downbeat to throw you off. Just a thought, it might have been intentional ;)

Hey Jeremy, thanks for the super-fun review, as always! 👍👍 Quick question - is pattern chaining still implemented in the same way as OG Circuit, now that the Scenes are involved? The old format of going back and forth, chaining pattern 1 three times in a row followed by pattern 5 twice and pattern 8 once? That was very good, does pattern chaining still function in this way in the new unit? Can you chain the Scenes out of numerical order as well? 🤷♂️🤔

I'm guessing on the non-quantized swing notes, it's because they're actually quantizing those notes to the microstep grid, and there's no way to have swing applied to some notes and not others within the same track.

I'm really hoping they address any timing / quant issues. The og Circuit has issues tracks falling completely out of time when live adjusting step length.

I'm new to the Circuit and you have helped me make sense of the thing! One question. I'm in patterns view and have two different synth voices in synth 1 and 2 in the first row. @Randuski3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there is no "unquantized". When you turn off quantization it doesn't lock it to the standard 16 or 32 steps. It uses the micro steps. They're still quantized to those micro steps. Aaaaand those micro steps also scale with the speed of the pattern. The micro steps aren't just a way of ratcheting, they're also used for shifting things off the "grid" a little

Can you control a separate synth with each midi track at the same time? Eg a volca keys and a volca fm? I see there is only one midi out. Thanks!
@TROGULAR100003 жыл бұрын
Yes, it goes out on separate channels and then you may have to get your volca keys and fm to listen to the two different channels. I forget if volcas have MIDI through, which would allow you to plug the MIDI into one volca and have a copy of it sent to the other one, but if not you need to get a MIDI splitter (in case of Midi Thru the copy sends all of the MIDI tracks onward but each receiving synth listens to the one you need it to, I'm pretty sure that's how it works)

Could this unit be used in the same fashion? Thanks.

Bo, do you know how to upload old circuitpacks to Tracks please? I cannot find an answer to this. Idownloaded components to use separately, rather than use the web browser. Format your SD card to fat32. Plug it in. Load components. Click packs. New pack. This gives you the option to pick a Circuit pack. You will notice than when you search for a .circuitpack your browser will not "see" your old .circuitpack files. I guess this is because Tracks needs a .circuittrackspack extension. I have copied an old .circuitpack and renamed it .circuittrackspack Then, your software is able to "see" it. However, when you upload it you get an error message.... "Can't find end of central directory" So you still cannot upload old circuitpacks. Or I can't figure out a workaround as yet. Any ideas please?
