@@FrenchtownMedia Hey man, nice! thx. What can you tell about the automap... I heard it is no longer controlling the DAW's and you have to go Mackie HUI instead, and all manually. HOw is it with you now? cheers
@FrenchtownMedia4 жыл бұрын
@@cesmcmyth sorry if I'm not much help on this topic, but I am still using an older version of mac os, choosing not to update. So automap in my case still works the same as it did in the video. I chose not to update because I was skeptical of all the problems occurring with plugins and didn't want to risk incompatibility issues and lose work on any projects.

How would you rank this particular controller vs newer ones like Arturia mini Mk2, Akai mini Mk3 and the Launchkey?
@FrenchtownMedia2 жыл бұрын
It is a great controller especially with its built in arpeggio and key zones but to be honest the thing is massive. I really like the Akai MPK Mini because of how small it is and still has pads knobs and keys

You definitely can. But I think all it would allow you to do is play your Yamaha as a midi keyboard through the impulse which may introduce a lot of input delay

I bought a used one 3 year's ago, the PW eventually started acting possessed Lol. Then when i took it a part and disable it, the drum pads would send cc1, MW. But i for sure would get a new one. The keys have a very nice feel, and with velocity, and one key AT. Also the arp is wicked. A win
@FrenchtownMedia4 жыл бұрын
Possessed LOL that's no good. I definitely love the arp's functionality and I'm no pianist but I do definitely feel a difference in these keys from other controllers I have used.
@Reeceline4 жыл бұрын
@@FrenchtownMedia Its because this controller has 'semi weighted' keys something which pianists would prefer. Fully weighted is the standard for digital Pianos. Nice video and wish I had discovered it before I decided to swap out my Impulse. Keep up the helpful videos 👍

Hi! Quick question, how do you change the "banks" selection for the PADS? if is that possible i would like to know.
@FrenchtownMedia3 ай бұрын
Haven’t figured out a way to do it without mapping another knob to an ableton drum rack that allows me to change the pad selection
@_ataims3 ай бұрын
@@FrenchtownMedia thanks for answering! I configured two banks inside the Impulse for changing octaves in the same drum rack. Maybe you solved this in a more easy way. How you configured it? Just a knob asigned to octave changes?
@FrenchtownMedia3 ай бұрын
Lately I have been using the keyzones that are built into the impulse and also ableton sampler has zones. Basically you can specify zones to trigger from your midi based on a selector. You can map that selector to a knob to change the selected zone. Set it up so that one zone is an octave lower. I have a video on ableton drum racks where I configure zones and a new in depth video for the impulse is scheduled to drop on Friday morning. Both of those should be able to accomplish what you are looking for and then some!

I there a way to control the recording in session view?
@FrenchtownMedia4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the main recording button on the impulse only controls the arrangement record button in ableton, however, there is a workaround. If you set the drum pads to clip launching mode on the Impulse, you can select a specific track, make sure it is record armed, and then launch an empty clip cell to begin recording a new clip. Hope this helps!

@@FrenchtownMedia i mean to play a chord and the chord continue to play when you left the keys. Used to have some pad to play with
@FrenchtownMedia4 жыл бұрын
@@fabriziojee4716 Unfortunately this controller does not have that option. However, Ableton Live has a midi effect called chord that can accomplish the same thing. I would recommend a chain with the chord effect followed by the scale midi effect and then you can basically play all the chords in a specific scale by only playing one note. Hope this helps answer your question!

no it has not, but it has a sustain pedal input instead.
@FITZFACTOR4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry if this is a super basic question, but is it possible to control all 16 inputs of the drum rack with the 8 pads? Do you do that by switching templates, or is there something within ableton itself that allows for that?
@FrenchtownMedia4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. I don't think that the pads have much control over the different inputs, but I know that you can change the keys that they do trigger. It's a tedious process though having to change trigger keys while producing. I would recommend using the keys as switching octaves will give you the ability to trigger as many cells as your drum rack has available.
