I'm very impressed by this video actually. Never owned a "button controller" but this one seems to be the exact right balance between the simplicity and functionality. For me Push kind of reminds me the nightmare of hardware synths programming from the old days. And I was extremely sold with velocity sensitive glide control with Launchpad Pro - compared to usually crappy MIDI knobs and sliders - I love the idea to be able to make controllable fast and precise adjustments with the button rows. The only request I have is a 16x16 version :)

I mean, this is a pretty cool thing, but I think the only thing Novation needed to do was improve refresh speed, clean up the design of the Launchpad S, and put RGB lights. They could add a metronome and record if they really wanted too. This is doesn't even have a user mode for projects, which was a big reason people even buy launchpads. The buttons are velocity sensitive, so they don't press down.

*PLEASE TELL MORE ABOUT AFTERTOUCH!!!*
@NovationTV6 жыл бұрын
Essentially, Launchpad Pro's pads will continue to send out data while the pads are held down, which adds an extra dimension of expression to your performances. Common examples include adding vibrato or tremolo, or opening/closing a filter but you can control how plug-ins/hardware respond to the different types of aftertouch data. 'Polyphonic aftertouch' means every pad can have its own aftertouch amount. In other words, different notes will respond individually even when multiple notes are held. 'Channel aftertouch' means that one aftertouch value will apply to all held notes. More specifically, the pad that receives the greatest pressure will dictate the applied aftertouch amount. Please note that while most of Ableton Live’s instruments can respond to 'channel aftertouch', Ableton Live does not currently support 'polyphonic aftertouch'.
@CoberlightShow6 жыл бұрын
And why when I choose the "Note" mode, I turn on Polyphonic aftertouch, click on ONE pad and hold, then I click on the internal knob of my DAW "Link to controller", and I automatically tie to CHANNEL aftertouch? that is, when I click on another pad, knob changes its value. I turned on Polyphonic Aftertouch, I checked. Maybe something I'm doing wrong or it not works so? Or does Polyphonic Aftertouch only work with plug-ins that support this feature, and to use Polyphonic aftertouch, I just have to set a port in the plug-in and everything will work?

It's great to hear that you're interested in Launchpad Pro! Launchpad Pro's pads feature full RGB feedback, velocity sensitivity and polyphonic aftertouch. They're firm but very responsive and allow for expressive, dynamic performances. I'd suggest that you go to your nearest dealer to try them out for yourself. They are different to those used on Ableton Push and all of our other Launchpads. You can find your nearest dealer here: global.novationmusic.com/stores Launchpad Pro can be used 'Standalone' - without a computer, to control external hardware and synths. Scale Mode can also be used in Standalone mode, making it a great choice if you're looking for a standalone instrument. global.novationmusic.com/launchpad-pro-scale-mode Best wishes, John // Novation UK 🇬🇧

I wonder if they (or some other company) will ever build an HW control where You can read the NAMES of live clips and scenes (and not only colors) displayed on the pads (as it happens in apps like "Touchable" on iPad) ... This way, You really have no more need of watching the notebook screen in order to know "where you are and what You're doing" ... Speaking of live performances, in the case of a live a session with many songs to play, each one with its complex set of scenes and clips (intro, verse1, verse2, chorus1, chorus2, etc etc ...), You always need to watch the screen of Your notebook if You want to be sure about "the point You reached" ...

Yes yes, you can still make projects like this, but you would have to essentially start from scratch... Is what I am saying correct? From my understanding you can only use midi learn mode to assign clips from session view to the launchpad buttons. Is the drum rack also usable for this application? Or is it only for note mode? If it's only for note mode... then this was a bad idea...
