KH1 has so many small little details, but my favorite is definitely the one from neverland. I think the reason why details like this and world interaction are not in the later games is because a lot of people didn't seem to care for it or even notice in KH1 and didn't want to explore their surroundings, they wanted to know where to go since in KH1 you didn't have much of a clue on where to go in most worlds. Honestly I loved everything in KH1. Using magic with the environment to progress or receive items like using Ice to freeze the bubbles in Hollow Bastion's basement or casting fire to ignite the fireplace in Cid's shop, using magic to create potions in Deep Jungle. Finding items hidden in the environment like hitting the fan in Huey's, Dewey's and Louie's shop, changing the time on the clock tower in Neverland then interacting with the doors above it. Finding the trinity symbols and Dalmation puppies. Alternate cutscenes. The minigames. The characters. There's so much stuff in KH1 that made it successful and absolutely amazing. I really love this series and enjoy the other games, but KH1 will always be my favorite of all time.

I'm not gonna lie, you're entirely right. For all of KH1's occasional clunkiness and basic content it really, really is probably the best one in the series. KH2 had a lot of good added gameplay elements but KH1 had the most love and care.

It added to the charm.

I'd like to add that the Soft Version of Halloween Town was likely intentional, rather than scrapped and briefly featured. First visit to Halloween Town has the soft version featured and stays like that indefinitely until Jack gets introduced during the cinematic with him and the mayor. I've always thought the reason for this was to save the original for Jack's appearance, as sort of a special moment since he really is a beloved character among Disney movies and that song fits his character perfectly.
@dmas77493 жыл бұрын
it's also when the heartless show up...or rather the heartless start acting aggressively
@BrandonKellogg223 жыл бұрын
@@dmas7749 The Original "This is Halloween" song begins playing immediately when the second scene in the world begins. The one where the mayor and Jack are introduced. From that point on, the alternate version does not play. This happens long before the heartless get "out of control." Listen to the music after the "non-fighting" scene with the search ghosts and how it breaks to the beginning of "this is Halloween" right when the second cutscene begins. That's where the soft version cuts off and moves to the original.

I loved this aspect of KH1. There are a ton of secrets in Hollow Bastion (best world), like in your first fight with Riku the door upstairs is locked behind bars, and you can freeze the bubbles in the world to get hidden chests. There are a lot of hidden chests there in general. In Wonderland, the chairs that reward you if you sit on them don't have armchairs, those that do punish you. In Olympus you get different rewards whether you put out the torches with blizzarra or blizzagga. There are also a few secrets in neverland, but I can only remember the chests that appear in Big Ben. I wonder if anyone botherd to check Atlantica for secrets besides a few easter eggs in Ariel's treasure room

this is why the original KH is my favorite, so much care and detail that even if you play through it 100 times you could miss it

Of all my years of playing KH1 I’ve never seen that master synthesis one. Wow.

I always felt there was as significance to the World Terminus, I never left a keyhole unlocked, so I never knew that the blue pillars were a thing.

Omg I'm kicking myself in the ass for the World Terminus one XD I played Kingdom hearts for years and that a time I replayed it I'd always go through them thinking I was obligated even though I completed every single world oh my God 🤣

You can see Pinocchio in the item shop before the monstro mission. But is really easy to miss and took me a few attempts to get the scene.

I never paid attention to the fountain and had no idea the lady and the tramp were there. I’ve been playing the series for fourteen years.

The End of The World level, as you go through each distorted room, if you look at the landscape close enough you realize some it are places like Snow White's and Cinderella's worlds. Talk about dark!

Damn I need to replay this game. It's been forever

I suppose depth is about going the extra mile to add things that most people won't even see, even if they're looking for it. Knowing that there's too many details to find them all, is how you know you won't scrape the bottom of that barrel. So it isn't shallow.

KH1 was basically a love letter to Final Fantasy and Disney as a whole. I don’t feel that they’ve recreated that same magic in any of the prequels/sequels.

Donald teaches Sora fire, a Phil teaches Sora thunder, Bambi, a woodland creature, is received as a prize in the 100 acre wood, most of the things in the bizarre room can be popped up. Mushu became available, after slaying a dragon, Squall leonheart/Leon gave you a lion, The tea party room actually has you change seats like in the movie, to see all the reward possibilities, Ms pots. Chip and the like are seen in deep jungle, just like they cameos in Tarzan. But aside from that, I’m fascinated with the world building. In spite of how the story is, every single thing that there could be to talk about, stemmed from this game.

Had no idea Arieth teaches you Curaga. That makes my lyrics so much realer.

for the "this is halloween" tracks I guess the "soft" version is most likely a karaoke version from the sound of it. Maybe they initially meant to have it be sung for the world's intro ?
