Writer Martin Amis has never been at a loss for words, in person or on the page. The British novelist, who moved to America 10 years ago, has written books that have enthralled, provoked and chastised over the past five decades. He talked with "CBS This Morning: Saturday" co-host Jeff Glor about his latest book, "Inside Story," a deeply personal meditation on love and loss.

A very sensitively handled interview. I think the interviewer knew more about Amis’s true health than he let on.

I worry that, in some dark future, all videos of Hitch and Amis and their like, will be slowly and quietly removed from platforms like this and the next generation will never know what it means to not hold a contrarian viewpoint, but to voice it so passionately and eloquently as they did.

Both Amis and Hitchens had esophageal cancer! What a tragedy and irony for the great friends! I miss them both! RIP

Im lucky enough to have read his books before knowing that he had a 'controversial' reputation. So I got to read them on their own terms. He was a superb writer, so engaging and fun and full of beans.

4:07 He was not telling people how to vote. He is surprised Chump got so many votes. He figured more Americans were turned off by a person like Chump being head of state and that he would not be a challenge to Biden in 2020.

Exactly. Amis said he hoped there would've been a self-regulatory mechanism - of course Amis wasn't calling for state regulation, barring ppl voting for Trump! The interviewer didn't listen, Amis would never say anything as crass and naive as that.

Money is the funniest, black humored novel I have read in my 55 years .Tears of laughter streaked down my cheeks when I first read it . Also worth reading are Times arrow, The Rachel Papers, London fields, Zone of interest..

Great writer: He mastered the language and the novel form, his essays are really funny and well-written. Now the bad side: he is naive when it comes to politics.

The impression after reading "Inside Story" is that it's his last big thing, and seeing him here confirms that. trump aged Amis, definitely. I'm looking forward to seeing him write about race in america, which he promised us also. Hope he's alright!

@BluebellBeatnik Jeff Glor is so good looking and has a nice way about him. Can't believe CBS threw him under the bus for Norah O'Donnell. Doubt her ratings are anything impressive.

It's meant for early Saturday morning programming, a feature, not an in-depth conversation. I was grateful to hear acknowledgment of his deep long time friendship with Christopher Hitchens. Years ago Charlie Rose did an interview of Martin Amis. Probably can be found on KZbin. Jeff Glor does a good job. Editing probably compromised some of the interview because it is a Saturday morning feature.

Amis was intelligent. The interviewer and other presenters are not. We live in the age of the common man. The intelligent people do not get a look in. Utterly depressing.

How optimistic would he be knowing almost certainly that Trump would get re-elected and to be fair he seems a better choice than sleepy Joe
