LYRICS
Was it all just a dream or
Was it just the price to pay?
Now I'm left here to pray in silence
And you got what you wanted
I search for meaning when all I used to do was dreaming
Disconsolate, mourning a loss, lonesome at best
Run away, but I can never escape from the pain in my brain
This fucking misery
I need a reason for who we are
I need to breathe throughout the war
I lost faith in myself again
I lost faith in myself again
Just breathe in, just breathe in
And bury me, bury me
Just pretend, just pretend
And run away, run away
(I’m slowly shutting down and)
I can't dеny, that all I do is losing control
You know I can't keep going on, this shit is taking its toll
But I can never escapе, but I can never escape, fuck
But I can never escape, system failure
I need a reason for who we are
I need to breathe throughout the war
I lost faith in myself again
I lost faith in myself again

Lots of people confuse quality for genericism... 🤷‍♂️ If the chorus is strong, it’s “too pop”, if the rhythms are just cruising and doing their job, it’s “not heavy enough”... if the lead guy holds back in a tasteful way, it’s “not technical enough”... Like man, being a great musician is about knowing when to jump in and out, and when to simplify, to better benefit the song as a whole. Not just ramming your musical chops down listeners’ throats. I don’t get the hate either... lol. Lots of solid songwriting, musicality, and cool experimental touches here... progressive structure... it’s good stuff.

Matteo's voice was what made Novelists what it was, just as the lead guitar makes it so incredible. Let's see if the new vocalists catches on. I'm not a fan right now but who knows. Matteo just had more soul in his voice. This guy, although good, just sounds too generic. No disrespect meant.

I fell in love with ALAZKA and then Kassim left and I was heartbroken... Then shortly after, I fell in love with Novelists and Matteo left. Once again I was heartbroken... the fact Tobias from ALAZKA is now with Novelists is so bittersweet. Kind of poetic honestly.

These comments are a painful reminder of how shitty the metal community can be. This is my introduction to this band and I'm absolutely blown away. The song is fantastic in terms of mixing, structure, tone, vocals, emotion, etc., yet half of the comments here are some backhanded remark about how this song would've been "so much better with the previous vocalist." I understand that change can be hard for people, but have some respect. Imagine how hard it would be to replace a lead vocalist, and how hard it would be for a band that has to reinvent itself after losing its vocalist. And despite all of that, they come out with an airtight banger. This community really has to learn how to just respect and enjoy this amazing music without throwing a temper tantrum any time a song comes out that isn't exactly how you thought it would sound.

I think most of the people are unhappy because we got Alazka instead of Novelists, when the title of the song clearly says Novelists FR. Any kind of feedback is good for a musician if you ask me.

Same. I've been listening to this song since the middle of December. I have no idea who Alaska is, what their former vocalist sounded like and what people actually complaining about. I'm not into metal and I know how hard it's to get into heavier music. This song is a gate to this world for newcomers and with this introduction they have so much credibility that they have no choice but to succeed
@ruok3351

You're overthinking it. As a listener you're not obliged to simp for any band and just suck in everything they do no matter what. That's stupid. Because to my ears and others as well, the old vocalist simply had a much better voice and their previous songs also felt stronger than this. Now I'm hoping their new album will change my mind but atm I don't like the direction they're going. If it turns out to be disappointing then I will simply stop looking forward to their new material. It's still the music that counts.

Honestly a ton of fans were unhappy with the last release which shocked me as it was super good. Some people just can’t be pleased. Shame. As with the new replacement Tobias brings something great, I was a big fan of Alazka and was torn at the news that they broke up. But good things do happen and good it was. He is a great replacement. Although I do wish Matteo would have stayed. He is doing amazing things with his new project and am glad he is happy.

I loved Alazka, and I loved Matteo's voice. The mix of both with Tobias in Novelists makes me happy. I can understand why people are nostalgic or confused by Tobias singing, but trust me lads: Give him a chance, he won't disappoint you. He's an absolute monster when it comes to vocals, and from what I'm used from him, that's totally different from what he usually do. Let them try new things, let them bloom in their new sound, and you will see why Tobias was the best choice. Beside that, Florestan, Amael and Nicolas, you have exceed my expectations, cheers to you lads ! I'm looking forward your next album !

WOW! Just amazing! The song is sooo cool! I was scared with Matteo departure, but with Tobias and this song I'm confiant for Novelists' future! And what about the video! It's crazy! I love the atmospheres, the lights, the colors! Welldone guys!

Holy shit that brutal part came out of nowhere! I thought this whole song was just gonna have that emotional epic journey feel it started with, but nope, no emotional epic journey is complete without some brutal darkness.

The comments of every single song nowadays. No one can just enjoy music or the artists and what they are conveying. This is beautiful. In the worst way. Absolutely a gem.
