Great wrap-up, Reney. I love that edition of Carrie that you picked up in FL. Nickel Boys almost did me in, but I agree that it is an extraordinarily powerful book.

I think that Carrie edition is from the '80's or something - it's definitely not the original cover design, but it's got some age on it. Poor Elwood! He was so full of hope and ambition! I predict the book will soon end up banned. Empathy towards others will not be tolerated!

@ no, it’s not the original Carrie cover. I bought the original in 1974 when it first came out, though I long ago lost track of that one. But still, the one you have is definitely one that’s been around for quite some time. Hard to believe that the book has been around for 50 years!

Wow the Nickel Boys sounds heartbreaking but very good. I had no idea about that real story and I had a feeling I might want to read the Nickel Boys some day, so I skipped some of it, but the parts I did hear sounded absolutely horrific. I did read The Answer is No as well though, that was a lot happier. Or funnier at least, I really enjoyed it! I could relate to Lucas a lot, I duck and hide when people knock on my door ^^ And I liked the ridiculous situations and the board animal! Also, as channel assistant, I need to mention that the link to the BOTM video goes to this video! 😊

Very much sounds like a hard read. Unfortunate that it’s another subject not really covered in school.

@@Adventures_in_Literature it is a hard read, but some are just worth it for me. This one definitely was!

I cannot believe Raina is not here 😂 Are you even surprised I am commenting on it? Probably not. I'm not gonna lie, I was surprised when you had a romance book! Love that you're doing a giveaway, and you gave it a fair shot! 100 pages is a lot. The Nickel Boys sounds like a riveting read. I need to pick it up! I think I did watch some docu-series talking about it, but I'd love to read it and get more perspective on what has happened. Amazing wrap up, as always! Now I have more books to read 🥰

I highly recommend The Nickel Boys, but I do respect that someone has to be in the right mood and frame of mind to read it. It is pretty intense and very heart-breaking. Raina was out for a walk and, truthfully, it was a relief to do the video without her. There's a reason she is called a "hound"!

I’ve never heard of Home Before Morning! It’s going on my future TBR. The Nickel Boys sounds like such an emotional and needed book. I don’t know if I could handle reading it but, I’m glad Colson Whitehead wrote it and brought attention to what actually happened even through a fictional lens.

Yes, he definitely kept the focus on it which is, overall, a good thing. He is an excellent writer! He also wrote, "The Underground Railroad" - it is also a fictional story. I have it and will definitely get it on a monthly TBR soon. I think you would like "Home Before Morning" - it's a little difficult to find, but it's still available.

You had a good reading month! I need to try a Randy Wayne White! He has several series that I, too, have missed over my many years of reading mysteries.

HOA’s are a hit or miss. I get wanting to have a nice looking neighborhood, but it’s been my experience that they are more trouble than its worth.

@Adventures_in_Literature Sometimes, yes! It really depends who's on the board and how much they are willing to communicate.
