I almost cried when Pastor Brett so clearly explained the parable of the pearl of great price. How many times have I read it and never realized that WE, YOU and I, are that pearl. Better, we are that annoying gritty grain of sand that in The Lord’s perfect timing and merciful care become something incredibly precious and beautiful, but only at a very great price: our Savior’s shed blood spilled out to purchase us completely and eternally. Wow. Too great for me to even comprehend how great a love that is, but thankful that I am able to accept its blessed covering. Thank you, Jesus.

I listen to your messages every work day when I'm working the early shift! They keep me focused on the word and my thoughts focused on Christ throughout my day. This morning, I listened to Sundays sermon and saw these parables in a whole new light!!! Something I'd never seen before after 50+ years of being a believer!☺️ I called my 22 year old son and told him to listen. He sent me this afterwards...."I just listened to Brett' s sermon cried through the whole thing, it was awesome, yay God!!"

So simple and so easy to understand. Encouragement and enlightenment for these dark, troubling times. Thank you brother Brett. On a typical Sunday afternoon, following a plethora of "Prophecy Updates" it is good for me to return to a message of GOD's LOVE for his children through Christ Jesus!

Mr. Brett, In regards to who the Treasure is, i thought this was Israel. God calls Israel his peculiar Treasure in Exodus 19:3-6 and again refers to Israel as a peculiar Treasure in Psalm 135: 1-4. I have troubles finding the Gentile Church referenced as the Treasure in the Bible. I would have thought we were part of the field that was redeemed by him when he purchased the field and treasure in it. Thoughts?

Okay, I feel positive that the church is not the "treasure". Israel is the treasure. No disrespect to Pastor Brett. I love Pastor Brett and Athey Creek. Great thing about this parable is it’s not a salvation issue on how it’s interpreted. I just feel compelled to share but I’m not necessary dogmatic about this. I also did not come to all of this on my own. When studying and looking into this to find some positions on it, I noticed there are a lot of difference in opinions. My understanding is that in Exd 19: 1-6 and Psalm 135: 1-4 calls Israel a peculiar treasure, KJV. I have trouble finding the church referred to as treasure. What really grabbed my attention is that the Parable starts off with the "Kingdom of Heaven is like" not stating the Kingdom of God. I know there is debate that the Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God being used interchangeable but I believe this can’t be in this scenario. My first clue is the previous verse, " Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." In this verse he references the "Kingdom of their Father". I was given great input on this. I didn’t come to this on my own and reached out to multiple people that I consider wise in the word and older than me in the word. That said, the perspective is, that the Kingdom of God is a portion that does not need to be purchased. We, the body of Christ, inherit the kingdom of God because we Gentiles are being married into the family as it were. The kingdom of heaven is the Abrahamic covenant to Israel. The ministry of Jesus Christ was for the "lost sheep of Israel", not for the Gentiles. As such, this parable is not referring to the church or the kingdom of God. Kingdom of God to the Levites, which is offered to the Gentiles through a spiritual legal loophole of marriage; and the kingdom of Heaven (the land) to the 12 tribes of Israel. Furthermore, The reason why the kingdom of heaven has to be purchased is because the devil, through deception, took it from Adam and Eve. Jesus Christ is purchasing it back from the devil with his own blood, according to the law, so he can restore the kingdom of heaven to the 12 tribes of Israel. Pastor Brett hit on this latter part with Rev 5. My principal hesitation with calling the treasure the believers, is that this replaces Israel and takes us out of the kingdom of God where we are supposed to be because that is where He is and we are to be with him as his bride. This idea of believers being the treasure would replace Israel and makes me think this idea comes from replacement theology. I’m not saying that Pastor Brett was teaching replacement theology at all. I’m just caution of replacement theology. I want to avoid it cause even pastor Brett has preached against it as it is incorrect. My point of sharing this is because I’m just trying to be a Berean and want to know the heart and will of Jesus. Like I said, I’m not dogmatic but I lean this way and I started this by just wanting to know and wanted to share my findings.
