You’re killing it! And I just wanted to remind you that having a higher income is not the only reason why you were able to pay all of this debt off! There are a lot of people out there that make your income or higher and are in far worse debt situations than you are! It doesn’t matter the income, it’s how you manage it! Great job guys!

Yea Katie, way to go! Whoo Hoo! Sue and I are a bit older than you two, that might answer some questions you might have about us. I wanted to mention that we were married on a low budget by the mayor of our town Neptune NJ. Our wedding and honeymoon cost a total of $800. Last year we went on a trip stayed in the same motel rooms as our wedding day. Anyway, we were well on the way to paying off our debt when we lost our minds and bought a new truck, it is mine a Toyota Tacoma. I hit a deer on the way to work. It was financed for 60 months. I friend of ours who is a Ramsey FPU coordinator, looked me in the eye and said "pay if off". She is bigger than me so I had no real options and it was the last debt we had out of our $136K debt portfolio that truck was paid off in 26 months. So when you are on a roll it becomes more urgent I think. Sue was a stay at home mom for 10 years so it's hard but you are on this! Goals, love the goals!

@KatieoftheHouse If the economy/ inflation and your income remain even somewhat similar next year as it has been this year, i expect a big movement next year too. It might not be a whopping, whole @$61k but still some pretty good movement.

@KatieoftheHouse A lot of people calculate the percentage of debt paid off. For the remaining @$85k +/- it might be motivating to pie chart the remaining percentage of balance. Just on the amount you start January with or, go back to your latest series of the 24 months to debt freedom. 'Ya want each month to show as opposed to counting since day one. Maybe something to add during the slow or impatient or grinding months; or quarterly. Again you want it to be motivating; especially as you turn to the SoFi loan as the debt of interest.

Amazing progress it’s always great to see the numbers going down, at the end of 2025 I will have paid down a little over $25,000 in 2024- I have a personal SOFI loan that I’m tackling now that should be done next year and then it’s on to my last debt student loans which is $56k

Great progress! I’m in a season of saving. Ended up having to take out a very large loan for my child in July after making my last debt payment in June!!! but after talking to a financial person I am using the last couple months of 2024 and probably all of 2025 to stock pile cash for various upcoming things. The loan I took out will be here for several years so I don’t feel bad about it.

I was just offered this same video from last year. Girl you need to do a comparison video. Yeah, that was pre-highlander, but you managed to pay off more than the original cost of the highlander in debt this year. You doubled last years debt pay off amount. You're done next year. I can feel it.

Quick question for you: You mentioned in one of your videos when talking about deciding which debt to focus on it was A. the smaller ones first, or B. the one with the higher interest rate? Tried finding it again, but couldn't and I've just written out all of my debt loans going into 2025 and cannot figure out which to focus on first. Help and thanks?!

Hey, Mel! In my case the smaller one was the higher interest rate, so I was able to focus on the smallest one and the one with the higher interest rate. If you are trying to decide, focusing on the higher interest rate will save you more money in the long run, but if you like a quicker win, I’d go for the smallest. It’s really up to you though! 😊

IF you can keep to the December '24's budgeted $3148 of debt payment you will still meet the Highlander $10k in '24 goal with a kiss to spare: assuming a $935 SoFi minimum. You will also meet the 2024 total debt reduction goal of $61161 with ease per the Dec '24 budget. Even with the reduced planned and budgeted debt payments in December you will still meet your Jan '24 goals and also the mid year adjusted (up) goals. A $30k or lower Highlsnder balance may hsve been sitting in the bsck of your mind but you are on track to meet your written gosls at greater than 100%.; and this is with the house painting and also clothes dryer blips. You and the family have done well.

I think that fits, too because I just want to be financial secure with debt payoff and retirement. HOWVER, 6’s go to 3’s when they are stressed, and debt stresses me out, so I think you are on to something there 😅

My usual few comments. First, besides debt payoff, you also were investing at a good rate. Even if most of it was via 403b/401K its still a good level of investment especially with what I beleive is a match. Second, you seem to be almost apoligizing that Marc has a high income because of his profession. But think of why he has that income. Its because he spent the time to train, and educate himself. He was not born a PA. He sacrificed. And he continues to make some sacrifices for his future. As you do too. So those that seem to be jealous of your status. I have only a few things to say, its basically. "Get over it" and "you could too". Katy and Marc are average people, about to live an not so average life, becaue they took advantage of the opportunities that were available to them. As I usually write. "congrats". Soon you will be joining my club.

Thanks so much for this comment, Jon! Growing up without a ton of money and watching my parents stress about money has given me some level of guilt I think about our income. I know that’s silly because he did work hard for it, and we both sacrificed for it, but for some reason I still feel kind of “bad” about it if that makes sense. So I think you’ll picked up that correctly, but I don’t think any one else has made me feel guilty, it’s all internal. I’ll definitely have to work on that 😬
