A woman who cleans houses once told the story that her husband was laid off, and he came to work with her cleaning houses for a temp time. She asked him "are you ashamed to be cleaning houses?" His response was "I will never be ashamed to do the same work as you. And I will never be ashamed to do hard honest work."

This call is a perfect example of why Dave is so so much better than the other Ramsey personalities. Dave has life experience that the other hosts just don't have. He has the perspective and the fatherly touch that Jade and Ken and George and the rest of them just don't have. He has the ability to zero in quickly and understand exactly how a call needs to be handled. Too many of the other personalities seem like they are reading from a playbook. They just immediately want to talk about income and debt and they regurgitate the baby steps. Dave knows when a certain type of touch is needed. He knows when to be harsh and when to have a lighter touch.

Dave gives fatherly advice. Although Ken, John and George are fathers, they are both very analytical. John more so because he has a doctorates. Im sure John is the same at home. But he doesnt have that father anger that Dave has when someone is about to do something stupid and you need to listen to me now tone. John is very much sympathetic and apathetic. Sometimes a call needs that anger to right the ship and get things moving in the right direction.

It’s called common sense. If they were not at work, they would probably tell people like it is too and give their honest opinion. But they can’t do that. They can’t say anything that compromise what’s being sold my Ramsey. Dave will do and say what he wants because like he said you can’t cancel him, he owns the show so he doesn’t care. But they can’t make their company look bad.

40's now, and everything is paid for. Fortunately, I had a college economics teacher who taught me a lesson when I was 18 years old. That lesson was: you can't buy something else for every purchase you make. Having multiple sources of income is prudent, as is living within your means. I have a 13-year-old vehicle because it is all I need, I like it, and I can do whatever I want with it. My net worth is $4 million, and I can pay my bills without stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.

If you haven’t experienced it yet: being broke with a bunch of bills due and debt collectors calling you, etc is terrifying on a Primal level. Dave tries to articulate it in this video but it’s impossible to fully understand that awful feeling and how you look back and question so many decisions you made leading up to that point unless you’ve been there. I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody which is why making sacrifices, thinking long term and generally practicing the stuff the Ramsey program teaches is so vital in order to have the savings and game plan to hopefully never arrive in that situation ❤

Well you shouldn't necessarily feel better about yourself, but maybe you meant you feel better that you're not in as bad of shape as others. I think that's what you meant. It's like weight loss. I am really overweight and I've been at different weights all my life different times when I've worked to try to get it off. My body just doesn't do well if I eat out of line. Grew up in a rough home and kind of leaned toward food to comfort my emotion that's when the abuse would be so bad. Anyway I'm alive to tell about it and now is an adult I have on a massive weight problem. I had it almost beat one time, but anyway it's like weight loss. I would think that my problem is so overwhelming and I don't know how I can do it but then I go and watch 600 lb life and I see these people that can't get out of bed for months or years and everybody does everything for them and they're massively overweight and they're in a hopeless state of mind and it seems completely hopeless but there's a few that when help is given and offered they take it and run with it so to speak and they're able to climb out of it and be a normal person one day. When I watch those ones where they show how horrible their life is then I soon realize mine is not even close to being that bad and then I think maybe I can actually do this. Anyway you probably think I'm a whack job for sharing that oh no but anyway it just made me think of that

Honestly speaking, you are never financially prepared enough for marriage or kids. There's always needs or emergencies that require more money. We're never ready in general because life is hard and uncertain much of the time and we aren't perfect human beings. But if we just spend our lives chasing money and stuff and stability for the moment (which can change at any time from multiple factors), we miss out on the more important things in life and finding a greater purpose and potential and growth and developing meaningful and deep relationships that fill our souls. Marriage and having kids is very often a faith based decision, trusting God and each other to work together and support each other along the way with what are the right decisions for your own family. We didn't have much money when we started out together, and my husband was in college still when we started having kids. But we both worked hard, grew and matured individually and as a couple, asked for help when needed and are now paying it forward (we are not meant to do it all alone), sacrificed many wants and conveniences, learned new skills and saved and prioritized better based on our values, and trusted God that He would help provide the resources in many aspects that we needed to succeed while giving life and striving for a healthier and loving environment to how many kids God has asked us to have and care for at the right times. I believe God knows us perfectly, sees beyond what we can as humans, and will help us through it. We each get to make decisions about the risks and benefits and possible good or bad consequences that come with it and decide what best aligns with our goals and values. Life comes with those risks for everything, but we shouldn't allow our fears to stifle our potential for growth. It's okay to face the unknown with courage, faith, and hard work. There's still ups and downs, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I've been blessed to walk with my husband and friend, side by side, as we figure out life together, and our many kids add joy to our lives even though parenting is hard work and often exhausting. But I don't have to do life alone; my best friend and I get to do it together. The many required sacrifices are worth making and have helped me mature and see and serve outside of my own self interests or goals, and the results have been well worth the effort and struggles. It's so beautiful!

I love the John’s question because he highlighted the fundamental problem here: as a entrepreneur YOU HAVE to learn when to call it off when is not working. Whether is recession, bad decisions, lawsuits, or whatever other reason putting the business down it has to be properly assessed and the decision timely made!

I love how even though the wife is terrified out of her mind (and rightfully so) she still loves and respects her husband by staying with him and talking positively about him. You can also tell she trusts him despite his business going under. That’s true love and i really hope they worked it out

LOL There's a point where you have to bail, believe me. I did it and have done waaaaay better since I don't have to babysit a guy anymore. Girls, in these suituations you're most likely better off by yourselves. And if you haven't had any kids yet CAREFUL WHO YOU BREED WITH

Stay at home mom is a privilege of the upper classes. Who the hell gets to be a stay at home mom and have 4 kids and not be in the upper class? Get to work lady. This shouldn’t all fall on him.

Do you have any idea how much 3 kids in daycare would be? Clearly you don’t. I have a kid in daycare and let me tell ya- we wouldn’t be able to afford 2 let alone 3 KIDS in daycare. It’s cheaper for her to stay home. Or maybe a night time gig or weekends WFH

So you want a lady with no college and no momey to put three kids in daycare? Have you looked at the cost of daycare? Not to mention she's out in the middle of nowhere. Daycares have a 9 month waiting list atm if you can find an opening at all

This too shall pass, sometmes we get into a mess, but today is not forever. I've been there when I was y'all's age, it was scary, but we pulled out with God's help and learned a lot! Ignore the vile comments from vile people! God bless you two and those sweet babies! ❤
