Welcome to today’s video on PERCENTS. These questions are actually really simple, but they get tricky as SAT puts two different types. You must know how to differentiate them in order to get them right. In this video, we will go over four things:
1. What they LOOK LIKE
1. The questions will often have percent mentioned somewhere in the question. If so, there’s a high chance that it’s going to be a percent question
2. TWO different types
1. Finding 20% OF SOMETHING vs 20% LESS/MORE of something - Although they sound similar, they are not the same.
3. What to KNOW about percents
1. Visualizing the scenario and how to find certain percent of something.
4. How to SOLVE them
1. Identify which type it is by visualizing and set up an equation to solve.

Pls do breakdown videos like this on the statistics section like sampling, scatter plots, standard of deviation etc.... since I’ve never taken statistics in high school. I am an upcoming senior and I want an 800 on the SAT maths section and I even want an 800 on the maths level 2 subject test and last thing I want is to have a downfall. I wanna know exactly what all the question types are and how to attack them it’ll mean a lot plus thx I watched all ur series 13 video playlist and understood everything it got my hyped to succeed even more.

There is actually 3rd type, for instance: John puts 100 bucks into bank with 5 percent growth per year, so what amount of money will be in bank after 10 years? Solution: $_initial × ( decimal_% + 1 )^(years) $100 × (1.05)^10 = answer Note: sign ^ is a power

For the second example, if they asked the question backwards and instead asked what percent less than calcium is the unknown element, how would I solve it? I remember a similar question on one of the SATs

If the asked for a percent less than the number. For example 20 percent less than 75. I would find 20 percent of 75 than subtract that amount from 75. That’s just how I do it.

I got a question, why is it that you multiply the population by. 0.2 to get 20% of the population? instead of dividing population by 0.2? Or am i missing something here And if you dont mind me asking, is there any more of these types of questions i can do for practice somewhere?

What you have to understand is that in order for you to find a PERCENT of ANYTHING, you have to multiply by the decimal version of the percent. finding 20% -> multiply by the decimal version (0.2) 45% --> 0.45 73% --> 0.73 138% --> 1.38 You can find more practices like these at the SAT Math Accelerator (link inside the descriptions)
