One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns are my favorite two books of the year!! I love gothic style novels. Such a good story. Loved how every character was realistic and interesting.

The Nightingale and Shattered Rose are both so good!! I think I like Shattered Rose so much bc I very much related to the main character bc of the person I was before I was saved. It's Tammy L Gray so it's just always good!

A video idea 🥰 it might be really interesting to see if your subscribers know your reading taste only in reverse- I know you’ve done “what book do you think I’ll enjoy” but you could do “what book do you think I won’t enjoy” and see if they are right

Maybe try Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. It’s also gothic fantasy but not as dark as Rachel Gillig’s book, and it’s YA. The audiobook is amazing!! I would also recommend the Magic in Chancellor series by Melanie Karsak. There are 5 novellas and all short reads. They are clean, cute fantasy books that are not dark. No spice and just a little language. In the U.S. they are free on Kindle Unlimited. I loved this series. There’s romance, cozy small town vibes, and just a little magic and supernatural elements. It’s a very sweet series, and they are all set around seasons.

I'm curious to hear how you feel about The Nightingale. I don't read a lot of historical fiction (unless it's historical romance), but I did enjoy The Nightingale. It was really hard to take at times though because it portrays some of the darker things that happened during the war.

The Nightingale and These Hollow Vows are also on my to read list for November. :) Had to DNF One Dark Window after 240 pages. I usually love gothic fantasies (Belladonna by Adalyn Grace is a great one), but this one is not for me - the catlike demon inside her head just reminds me of the demon interfering with our thoughts lol. Also, Elspeth just seems very passive to me. Looking forward to your progress. I'm going to do a reread of The Selection series :D

You live in Canada? Didn't know 🙂. The Nightingale is A book I will NEVER forget. A VERY POWERFUL story. I read the book, didn't listen. This is heavy, so maybe wait for the mood. I haven't known anyone who read it to not LOVE it. I know everyone's reading tastes are different😊 . Wrote down some recommendations, thanks!

I read These Hollow Vows and DNF’d the second book. Yes it’s YA buuuut there is spice and strong language. Mostly in the second one. At least that was my experience. Just a heads up. If you want to recommend more fantasy, Anastasis Blythe is a great author I recently discovered. She only writes fantasy. 💛
