watching your vlogs has me feeling the same way as snuggling up with a good book or sitting down to write a favorite scene. i approach it in the same manner too: attentive and enthralled. i can't be having supper or ironing at that time, you know. i just sit down (or stand cuz I also have that blessing of a standing desk lol) in a quiet place and prepare to absorb it, like I were studying for a test. God forbid any distractions because every little detail from your gracefully constructed cinematic videos is so precious. gosh, I said that before but I feel like writing a book with you as the mc! not in the creepy way, you just inspire so much and are so unique and lovely thank you and wish you all the growth and happiness you deserve, you cutie.

Re: Prometheus + Ancient Greek/Modern medical knowledge. I've spoken with people about this a few times. My theory is that they noticed that soldiers would often survive even serious liver injuries. Or also, animal dissections were super common back then and that might have been a somewhat common observation. Great vlog by the way, hearing the birds in the Botanical Gardens were delightful!

Wonderful vlog! I love your short story idea with the game developer character. I live close to Irvine and know about Blizzard Entertainment as a family friend works for them! People unfamiliar with the Orange County area in SoCal will often say that Disneyland is in Los Angeles (it’s not). Although Orange County is between LA and San Diego, having grown up here most of my life, I can say it’s very different. I hope that short story gets published! It sounds absolutely fascinating! Also, glad to hear you’re making progress on your new novel. I’m excited to see where it goes! 🥰 I’m a screenwriter (not professionally yet) who has been trying to break into the entertainment industry for many years. I’ve been writing scripts since 2007 and have written 36 scripts so far (not a typo, lol). My MFA is also in screenwriting (wrote a fantasy TV drama pilot for my MFA thesis) and my PhD dissertation is a one-hour supernatural drama I adapted into a fantasy novel (currently querying that novel). I think it’s really cool that you went to a free screenwriting lecture. It’s such a different form than short story and novel writing and I do all three! Currently applying for TV writing fellowships and submitting my short stories that haven’t been published yet. I also love the aesthetics of your vlog! Your editing is so enticing and it makes me want to visit Adelaide. 😍

Oh my gosh the shots of the botanical garden were so pretty and peaceful especially when everything is turning brown here in America. Quarterly small business taxes sound like an especially brutal version of taxes. I wouldn't be surprised if the greeks did know from potentially dubious medical practices. I hope you are able to get an iron infusion again soon if that what helps you most! I've also run into the issue where all my tests are normal so they're just like I guess it's just the stress and insomnia, even though I do so much less than most people my age (and honestly, also than my parents who're retired). Hope you have a great time snorkeling on The Great Barrier Reef! It's like one of my bucket list goals to scuba dive it, so I'm super excited to hear about it! Side note, I noticed that you had a paperback copy of The Anthropocene Reviewed, which made me wonder if you prefer paperbacks or hardcovers (or if like me it's length and/or specific novel/cover dependent)? Also, I'm so curious what you were looking for in The Anthropocene Reviewed! Did you find the answer in a vlogbrothers video or the podcast?

hi Christy! I love your videos and I'm sorry to hear you struggle with low iron! I wanted to drop a comment because I've personally struggled with anemia for a really long time as well - it turns out tea and coffee can inhibit your body from absorbing iron, particularly if you have those drinks close to meal times! I've noticed that you seem to be a hot-drink enjoyer like me so I was wondering if that might be affecting your iron levels. In case my own iron-recovery method is informative to you: I restrict myself to one tea/coffee per day at 4pm now - as far away from meal times as i can get (but still devastating, I know, it is so sad) - and I take an iron supplement before bed, and it's really helped!

I do not mean to suggest how you write this short story but I LOVE the concept and wanted to toss something out: what if when this games maker inherits her grandparents farm she discovers her grandparents were harboring a supernatural/mystical secret? Maybe they have to pass the farm down to someone worthy or similarly “gifted” to care for the supernatural/mystical thing? Maybe her aunts are jealous bc they wish they were gifted in a way the protagonist doesn’t yet know she is? The caretaking of the supernatural thing could play on her unique gifts for game making/ creative thinking too? Just a thought! Love love love your videos ❤

A day on earth Every day I see the world I am forever amazed by its unending wonders And all the beauty of everything around me Each blade of grass, every pebbles, shoot and twigs Drops of dew as diamonds in the morning sun The fresh scent of renewed hope in the early breath The promises of life awoken Riches and abundance and rewards near I am so very small - this world so big Though I look and look I cannot see very far But I can see I belong here That I belong to here The new day also brings hurdles and sorrow Streams to cross, treacherous and menacing covers I am just a solitary little mouse trotting along In this immeasurable field I call home And no matter the dangers and the threats However unkind the weather and cold the nights And the friends lost and the dark days I am grateful for this ground I walk on I am the life given to me Like a voice needs a listener And the dream a dreamer This earth comes alive under my tiny little feet I am bound to it as it is to me I am just a solitary little mouse trotting along Small and defenceless, sometimes scared and unsure But trusting and confident in this moment Today, there is nowhere else I would rather be Here and now I belong To this life given to me I am a voice, I am a dream, I am a breath I am just a little mouse
