Ok so the year is 2014-2015 i don't exactly remember. I'm going through the nightfall with my friends and it's Omnigul. Right before we kill her my mom yells at me to come have lunch. I tell my friends that I'm hopping off but that i'll be back really quickly, and told them to let me know if I got any good loot from the strike. So I start inhaling my food like I'm Matt Stonie off 4 percs, much to my moms dismay; and hop back on the game. I remember perfectly that I said: "Yo i'm back what'd I get," instantly my friends start screaming: "YOU GOT PATIENCE AND TIME YOU GOT PATIENCE AND TIME." I start going crazy cuz I really wanted that exotic. However, I had also gotten a legendary heavy engram, which I didn't exactly care about given the fact that I had just gotten the Patience and Time. So we fly back to the tower in good spirits, and dragging some hard earned loot. As I'm going through my vault to make room for my new Patience and Time, I remember that I have that legendary engram. So I take my little 5th grade ass to Rahul, to decrypt that shit. I hit A on my Xbox controller and boom... Gjallarhorn. I died that day. My 10 year old mind couldn't take the levels of insanity and rarity. I scream at the top of my lungs: "GJALLARHORN!!!,." My friends think I'm trolling at first but then they realize i'm not joking. We all go crazy for 10 minutes straight. That remains the luckiest I have ever been. Destiny 1 was my game man, I loved that shit.

Bruh this entire video was just a massive wave of nostalgia for me. I’ve been playing since it initially released and out of all the weapons you listed, I only failed to get the queen weapons (I got grounded and couldn’t grind for them). I also remember the og felwingers lie with shot package and efrideet’s spear with that final round perk which allowed it to one shot body. Watching your video really took me back and I really miss these days. D2 is a great game and I’ve been loving the story but there’s just something about the loot in d1 that felt so much better to acquire. Thanks for the video it really takes me back and put a smile on my face. Also, at 6:40, I miss these self res battles lol.

Even getting my 30th Cryptic Dragon scout from that Cabal strike was exciting. I only get that excited in D2 when I get the exact godroll I've been grinding for.

I remember getting ghally and necrochasm. For ghally, I had finished a nightfall and and got the usual ascendant energy/shards. Dissapointed, I tried my luck at the exotic chest for crotas end since it was during the first encounter. Luck smiled on me as I got ghally from the chest. Who needs nightfalls anyway? As for crux, it dropped on my third hard mode run along with monte carlo (an exotic I did not have yet)

i remember trying out No Land Beyond on a common control match after buying it from xur. After losing the match, at the rewards screen, i received... a Gjallahorn... i keep imagining what the other 5 players thought when seeing that lol but that was my 3rd Gjallahorn. My 1st was after soloing Archon's Nightfall with the 3 elemental damage buff active ehile using Icebreaker. The 2nd was on the *"Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one."* MEME strike lol

Queue really young me freaking out and running downstairs to interrupt family movie night just to share the news. It's so odd now that I think about it because I remember all the details including the map and movie, hell I'm pretty sure I got third place on my team. It's really crazy because now that I reflect on my later years of Destiny, I couldn't tell you when I got (insert random exotic). Destiny 1 just really captured nostalgia better than any game ever could and will for me

Don't forget, the husk of the pitt was bugged after the house of wolves dlc drop and wasn't fix until Y3. If you are wondering what the bug was, it was basically extreme low drop rates and you can only get it from that one mission.

I will never EVER forget when my Gally dropped in a random crucible game. I loved that it was insanely rare but in the global loot pool so anyone could get it at any moment. It made the loot hunt so exciting

My Gally story is pretty unique. I got into the game with The Taken King but for some reason I was obsessed with collecting the old year one loot. It was during a two man of Crota's End just for fun, before they brought it back, and I got it from the exotic chest. My raid mate literally left the raid and we never did finish. I loved the hell out of it for rerunning Skolas and Crota for those sweet shaders until it was brought back

I remember having a Coiled Hiss 1919 pulse rifle during the Crota DLC with full auto perk and a really high stability stat; this was back when pulse rifles weren't particularly good with the lowest DPS of the primary weapons. I wished I could have saw what it was capable of in a post-pulse rifle buff environment.

I also got my first Gjallarhorn from Atheon! It was on Christmas day 2014 so it was the perfect present! As for the Queen's Wrath, I still regret dismantling all my weapons, at least I still have the chest & mask for my hunter :') & The Messenger was my go to rifle for so long!! I'd always use it to counter the thorn back in the day aha, to this day I still use it in PvP whenever I log on & play, it's just so smooth. Man, I really miss 2014/2015 when everything was so new..

When gally was being sold second time round I was missing a few strange coins and I was so mad about it. So my friends took me though my first nightfall where I actually wanted the strange coin reward. Didn't get the strange coins, but I did get ice breaker, so I consider it a complete success nonetheless

I'm so happy I can say I have most of the weapons on this list. I remember my friends having a cult like ritual to try and get the Crux which I never cared about but I was the first of my friend group to get it and subsequently the nechrochasm. I was also so proud of my praetorian foil i would grind vogs any and every time I could for a chance at one. I don't regret it at all

I've been playing since the release as a Warlock and I was there for Xur to sell the Gjallarhorn on the 2nd week. So I was at the tower with my Titan and Hunter friends and they both picked their relevent exotic armor pieces, I wasn't really taken by the Sunbreakers, so I spent my strange coins on the only reasonable choice, not long after I had realised what an absolute powerhouse that this rocket launcher was and so did the community! From now to this day (to my Fireteams annoyance) the Gjallarhorn has been my most common Exotic drop with me acquiring it of stupid number of 26 times!

My ghorn story has two parts, when I got it and then sometime at the end of year 2. I got my ghorn from a devils lair nightfall I was doing with a friend sometime in house of wolves. Now for the second part, I was doing year 1 PoE for fun and to use ghorn again for the first time in a long time. I got an Xbox message saying “nice rocket launcher”. One of the randoms I was playing with, they had never seen it before. Added them and we played a bit, next day I saw him and a guy doing crota by themselves and I wanted to go help. Helped them finish and now that guy who liked my rocket launch is my best friend. We play together to this day

I got the necrochasm in D1, it was super grindy to get and took a bit to get the crux of crota. But one thing that was memorable was an old friend of mine told me he would help me with the first two dlc's that dropped in d1, and so it took months and eventually got it, we finished the story and he told me that the chest from prison of elders guarantees you an exotic for completing it the first time, the exitic I received was the hawkmoon I still remember his reaction when I told him what it was, he even told his friends about it and told me to show it off lol, but ever since then I have used nothing but hand cannons in d1 and carried over to d2.

I taught the D1 raids a lot, with around 200-250 clears of each of the first 3 raids (only 100ish Wrath of the Machines). Original Praetorian Foil was definitely pretty rare... I'd put it around a 10% chance that it would drop for someone in a raid, which is pretty close to the community consensus of ~2% individual drop chance. I think only the Necrochasm crux was anywhere near that rare in all 4 D1 raids. My Foil dropped somewhere around #35 or so I'll never forget this night: one of my teaching runs had someone who was in their first raid ever. Had Fatebringer from the Templar, Gjallarjorn from the Gorgon chest, and the Mythoclast all drop for him. He had heard the name Fatebringer before but not the other two and had no idea what kind of weapon it was. Whole thing was nuts, one of the more bizarre experiences I've had

Its mad, but I think most D1 verts remember exactly how they got their first Gjallarhorn. Mine was from Ir Yût, the Deathsinger, during Crota's End. If I remember, at the time we only had to Gjallarhorns in my fire team and no one was level 32 yet making the Crota encounter so difficult. Getting that sweet Ghorn made it just that little easier to complete. I was a few coins short of getting the Ghorn from Xur on the second week. If I had known, I would have done everything to get those coins. My first exotic was Thunderlord, still holds a special place in my heart!

Back when crota was the main raid I remember one of my buddies used to essentially blackmail raid teams to keep me in. Everyone wanted a sword bearer, and the rest had to have gjallarhorn. I only had icebreaker so when they wanted to kick me he'd tell them, if he goes, your sword bearer goes too, and you won't find another for a while. Let's just say we changed a lot of people's minds when it came to "must have ghorn" lol

Never got any Y1 Trials loot, but did have TFWPKY, 3 Little Words, and Six Dreg Pride. Also a rapid fire pulse called 123 Syzygy which I've only heard one other person remember getting. I always loved going into crucible with old rare weapons (sometimes actual Rare weapons, blues had cool names in D1...) and getting randomly messaged like "wtf is that gun, where'd you get it??"

I wasn’t around for year 1, started like 5 months before RoI dropped. But I did do year 1 raids a lot before there age of triumph variants. It was about 2 months before RoI dropped and I was going for year 1 necrochasm. I’m not kidding when I say I got the crux on back to back runs after only about 3 weeks worth of runs. My friend who never obtained a crux after thousands of clears was so mad and same goes for my crota raiding group, both of them were so mad. I still have the second crux in my vault to this day and I still helped my raid group with clears hoping they too would get it, one of them did before I stopped playing with them. I can only hope the other guy got lucky eventually.

My favorite thing about the Praetorian's Foil is not because it's one of my favorite fusions from D1, but it's also the first piece of gear I actually got from Vault XD I had no idea why everyone was losing their minds over it. Oh boy, my Gjallarhorn story comes from the House of Wolves era. Some time into the expansion my friend and I were running the nightfall for the week, which was The Shadow Thief. He had gotten his Gally a while back from a Vault of Glass run, and I had the pleasure of seeing him use it every time we played together for months while I remained still empty handed from every instance of exotic loot drops. At this point I am so mentally beaten down from not getting Gally after so much grinding, and seeing my friend unintentionally flaunting it in my face every day we played did not help. Funnily enough though, his presence is very important to the story. So, as I said earlier we get to running the nightfall. We first run it on my Titan, and it is about as difficult as a Destiny 1 Year 1 nightfall gets. Lots of sitting in the back of the room, picking off enemies from afar, things like that. First run I get nothing good. Next up is my Hunter. Transfer my good weapons over, hop into the nightfall once more, and then I get nothing good...again. Now at this point I am just upset. I'm tired and don't wanna even bother running it again due to the expectation that I'll get garbage and be disappointed for another week. But my friend butts in and begs me to run the last nightfall. He tells me that there is no point in me skipping out on it and that I might as well try. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the run. After much prying, I finally budge and agree to run the nightfall on my last character, my Warlock. We load into the nightfall for the third time, and I am still being pessimistic about the whole thing. I'm tired of hearing Variks' voice, I'm tired of shooting the damn spider tank for 10 minutes, I'm tired of Taniks' laugh, I just wanna get in and out painlessly. We eventually finish off Taniks and wait for the mission to end. My friend's eyes are glued to the bottom left of the screen, and I'm not even paying attention. Suddenly, he screams. "YOU GOT IT!" My eyes dart to the bottom left of the screen. GhostlyPenguin found *Gjallarhorn* . My heart rate shoots up instantly and I also scream. Lots of screaming, laughing followed by wheezing, and hysteria later, we get to the rewards screen and I get to see the Gjallarhorn fill up that square next to my name. No strange coins, no motes of light, no mediocre legendary, just Gjallarhorn. 12 year old me had never been so excited. That night goes down in history as one of my most memorable gaming moments of all time. Sadly, Xbox DVR automatically purged the clip I made of it as it was several years old, so I don't have the in-game clip anymore. But it still lives on in my mind, and every time Taniks comes back I get another fun reminder. Sorry for making one sentence into a drawn out multi-paragraph story, but I can only provide the most accurate retelling of a moment that sticks out so fondly in my brain.

I got my gjallarhorn as a random reward at the end of a 3v3 crucible match. I still remember the map, it was anomaly and I placed second on my team. Out of nowhere gjallarhorn popped up on my reward screen and I freaked tf out in my living room.

Got praetorian foil on my first hard mode clear but took me over 50 vog completions in D1 to get aetheons epilogue. It was the only weapon I was missing from vog for like 6 months or something like that I got it right before house of wolves came out and did vog every week

I was the first one out of my friend group to get Gally. I remember it so vividly, I played a match of crucible on one of the mars maps, went 21 kills with a 7.0 KD and got the drop. I took a picture and sent it to the group chat and asked them if it was any good and they all got upset that I got the best exotic in the game haha. Destiny 1 year 1 was such a great time man

My luckiest destiny moment I got the ghallahorn on the very first nightfall against sepicks prime. I noticed right away how op it was but no one would listen until the raid came out.

I've got quite a few year 1 vendor weapons. The OG Devil You Know, TFWPKY, Three Little Words, Another NITC, Judgment 6, One Way Ticket 000, MG18A Harm's Way, OG LDR 5001. I might have one or 2 more, but I know I have these. My prized rare item though was the Fermi Solution ship, back when everybody wanted it in year 1 and the Faction ships were hard to get.

I remember on a Tuesday reset when i was in 5th grade at 5 am before school playing d1 on my xbox 360 and doing the glitch to get into the VOG by just jumping off your sparrow and opening the first chest and screaming because i got Gjallerhorn, ill never forget it

Idk if it’s changed, but praetorian foil was definitely a 0.2% drop rate. Below 1%. They might have changed it later on, but I’ve gotten 1 during my whole career and it’s still considered the luckiest drop I’ve ever gotten

I got D2 at launch and I wasn't really feeling it. Really miss D1, especially back in the time of Crota and House of Wolves. Over 4000 hours and I was a lonewolf. Great times for sure.

I didn’t start playing the game until several months after taken king had come out. One thing me and a friend liked to do was duo Crota’s end just because we could. One time doing it I was joking watching me get a year 1 Ghorn from the witches for actors. We do the encounter and at the end an exotic drops, lo and behold it was a year 1 Ghorn. My dumb joke had just come true, I used it against actors and vaulted it and I’m pretty sure it’s still sat in my old vault still even if I haven’t logged in since d2 can out.

Hawkmoon was my very first exotic, and at the time i obtained it (forgot which activity it was) it was a PS exclusive! Didn't run any other weapon after the drop until I was bored and used something else!

TLDR: I got Gjallarhorn from the first guaranteed exotic drop from prison of elders and thought it was garbage. I really got into destiny during house of wolves and my friend who introduced me to the game had the suros regime drop for him during his first prison of elders run. I didn’t even know exotics were a thing at the time and for some reason I thought the suros was so cool and wanted one for myself, but I got the Gjallarhorn instead. It’s funny because I thought it was trash since I would find heavy ammo way less than primary or special and therefore thought I couldn’t use it as much. But after saying “damn I really got a stupid rocket launcher I’ll never find ammo for” I was met with rated R language about how lucky I was. Good times

A friend of mine had the worst rng I’ve ever seen in pursuit of the year1 gjallerhorn. Every nightfall, every raid, on three characters every week. Only to finally get it 1 week before xur sold it the second time.
