The white plastic thing and entire in-filter round part has nothing to do with winter modes. It is to make different lengths of clean air and fuel mixture passages to tune the strato system and avoid spitback problems.

I'm glad somebody else found this saw to be anemic and shitty off the shelf, I felt like I was being gaslit by the Echo dealership when I mentioned its low power output and constant bogging down compared to similar power output Stihls. On paper it's quite a poky little saw, I honestly think it would be worth porting. Not sure I'm brave enough to do it myself.

I was under the impression this was a cs450p with a newer set of plastic. The 450p was non stratified and able to be machine and ported and a 372xp carb fit on it. I could be wrong though. Nice looking muffler mod 🤙🏽

Interesting discussion on Echo marketing. Regardless of what I read is pro worthy; I have my own requirements. Metal case, adjustable oiler (newer saws), dual pinned chain brake flag, braced muffler and a bit more power make it pro for me. Not that I can always afford such options, nor have the need to always use a pro saw. But its a baseline.
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
Never heard anyone throw in the chainbrake requirement before. Very interesting! Lots of Huskies would be left on the shelf.

For a few dollars more the 4910 is WAY more saw for the money. Lighter, more compact, more power,, and worth porting- as the ThunderKitten demonstrates.

It's odd that echo tries to make their saws idiot proof so people burn them up, but at the same time many of their saws need tweeking by someone experienced with saws to be any good, but they have a good price point

Thanks for the video. How did you weld onto the muffler? braze, mig, tig, flux? Also what size outlet if you don't mind me asking. Accidentally ordered a 4510 instead of a 4910, so i guess i will stick with it...

Mig. But I just bought a roll of silver solder, so I will be trying that in the future.
@Norcocop4057 ай бұрын
The 4910 isn't exactly a show stopper in stock configuration. It drove me to actually first limiter cap removal and I am considering muffler modification too. I will say the video side by side is nice but you worked the saw much more on the after modification cut and just let the saws weight do the work on the first one. So it's not quite an apples to.oalles comparison. I would guess the stock saw would have justt bogged down if worked harder though. I returned my 4510 immediately on trying it out and got the 4910. I'll say both are completely disappointing saws.

@MrJeepfreak19722 жыл бұрын
@@novicelumberjack Yes, engine. Not saw. As you know it takes more than the engine to be s professional grade product. You are thinking of it from an enthusiast / performance standpoint. Echo wants customers to know you are getting something a cut above a Walmart poulan or equivalent homeowner saw. A cut above because the engines are designed to last longer than the typical homeowner piece of equipment. Husqvarna and Stihl don't use that nomenclature on there occasional use tools because they don't meet the requirements or you can bet they would.

How do you find the 7310? I've used Stihl 441 and 660s which I guess are the nearest comparison, my preference is still Echo despite the lower power output because the vibration levels are so low, but I wondered about how heavy the 7310 is.

I would recommend it if you can get your hands dirty and have some mechanical sense. Search my channel for this saw and you will find multiple videos. I remove the carb restrictors and could actually tune it. Runs good now. There’s not a damn thing wrong with your muffler mod buddy… grinder makes up for the welder I ain’t…it is still holding together then you did good… you can get better and better with practice! You just watch your angles and try to pull more then push and work on your z pattern or play with the different patterns depending upon which type of welding machine you are using… you can cheat and set up a small torch flame and learn to basically use two hands… if you are running a crappy little wire feed welder then by running a torch into your puddle area you burn out the excess oxygen with your torch flame and that makes your flux in your wire feed wire more effective! Cut out your sight hole and work holes in a gallon metal coffee can and get a small bottle of shield gas and make a little “portable hood” with your coffee can… I’ve seen a guy do that and I was very impressed by his ingenuity… if you know how things work then you can make your own tools or create the environment necessary for your project to work correctly! You can hook up a piece of aluminum flex hose and hook it up to your truck’s exhaust pipe and drag that over to your metal piece’s or weld near your truck… the carbon monoxide will disrupt the oxygen content in your little local atmosphere over your weld and let that flux do a better job! We learned to run the hose into the gas tank on the vehicle so we could weld them back together with 1/2 a tank of gasoline still in the tank! Talk about taking a deep breath and checking yourself right before you strike up your ark on the outside of a 1/2 full gas tank!!! Since I was the class clown I got chosen to go first! I thought the old prick was trying to kill me! Or at least pay me back for the harassment!!! LMFFAO! I like raffles! The 306 Poulan! I’d definitely be in!!!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but considering you still keep saying that Echo markets XY and Z as "professional" saws here is where your confusion must come from. All echo ENGINES meet the 300 hour emissions standard threshold to be considered a "professional" grade engine vs the lower threshold for occasional use type products. They are not saying the that saw is a professional grade saw. It even says in their description on their site, "professional grade, 2 stroke engine". Echos generally use the X designation for their actual professional grade equipment and in the past I believe, before the X designation, the letter P. Some still carry that letter, such as the CS501 P chainsaw.
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from, but..."professional grade" should not be used in ANY literature for this saw. It is purposefully misleading and just a marketing trick. They are trying hard to trick people into thinking this is anything more than a small farm saw. Nothing wrong with a small farm saw. It is a nice little saw that is priced well. And that's it. It is Echos version of the Husqvarna 435, and I'd take a 435 over it any day. There is nothing about it that is professional. But I do get what you're saying, I'm just saying that Echo is exaggerating.
@MrJeepfreak19722 жыл бұрын
@@novicelumberjack It's not misleading. They don't say its a professional grade saw, you read that into it and you are the only person I've heard say that. The engines in all their equipment, as far as I know, meet that 300 hour benchmark, as defined by the EPA, I assume, to be considered a professional grade engine. The EPA gives zero forks about power output or clam shell vs mag cases in this determination.
