It is called "german carve" from a line of furniture produced in the 60s in Germany, I still have a desk and a shelf exhibiting this kind of reverse fillet so to say. Dennis Fano is a guitar genius. I know a shop in Holland selling Novos, they come in and are sold out in a couple of days.

I thought German Carve came from luthiers at early Rickenbacker, such as Semie Mosrite, who were taught the technique by the older luthiers they were working under. Mosrite use of the German Carve in early 60s models is probably the most iconic instance. Wenzel Rossmeisl was making guitars in the early fifties using this style I believe. His son worked at Rickenbacker with Semie Mosrite.

I have a legitimate question for all you guitar folks out there. I am not and I repeat not trying to take a dump on Rivolta, I am just curious... If you had the $1000-$2000 to spend on a guitar... which I don't by the way... Would you buy something like this from a small USA made company or would you instead go for a larger one like PRS, Fender, Music Man... Notice I didn't include Gibson because we all know you wouldn't buy a Gibson. Just curious.

quality wise, the ones you listed won’t be better, rather the opposite. you can’t buy much from prs and music man under 2k. Rivolta seems great and much cheaper. NOT USA made though, it good stuff... resale value might be higher on the other brands.

My price range is more Epiphone than Gibson, and was just curious what folks who purchase what I consider 'premium' guitars look at, well known brands or I guess boutique brands for lack of a better word. No disrespect intended to Novo or Rivolta. All my stuff is name brand I guess you could say... Also I thought he said they were American made... my bad.

Why is $1099 too cheap? That's a lot of money still. As for the guitar itself I wasn't a fan of the clean tones but the dirty sounded good. Not a fan of the look though. It's cool that it's unique but those full block inlays are awful looking. Also wish they used brushed chrome like on their Novos. Kinda torn on the German carve as well. I guess it's just not my style. Cool guitar nonetheless.

I really don't like the German carve. Reminds me of the awful overused beveled effect that everyone use to use from Photoshop. Also a shame they didn't do the relic look with the Rivolta guitars. I wish Novo came out with an affordable version of their Novo guitars; same look, same relic treatment, just cheaper components.
