You are the only reviewer of this product that spoke the truth about how long it takes to get good results. I bet your arms were tired after this.

Most of the scratches were deep so I used far more of step 3. Over time, especially if the tank is running, expect to use Step 1 on the outside to polish it up.

This is great product that we love too, thanks for making such a good video on it. We recently just invested in a few acrylic tank pieces because of this system you showed, it works well with some physical work and hence fixes those scratches that in the past that chased us away from acrylic. Nice video, we will share it often.

So are you using a regular rag to rub in the compounds? How large of a tank do you think the bottles can finish? Do you think a 225 gallon acrylic tank with minor - moderate scratches can be completed with a set of Novus bottles? Thanks!

hey guys ,would you be able to use a small low speed polisher with say a lambs wool of foam buff pad to polish the acrylic instead of hours and hours of hand polishing ?

@glenrietveld17434 жыл бұрын
Beware! I purchased the exact Scratch Remover product. If the scratch is even slightly more than a super thin hairline scratch this will not remove it. Used a 3000 grit wet and dry sand paper to remove the scratch which left a haze then used the Novus product to remove the haze.
@apdroidgeek17374 жыл бұрын
It can remove heavier scratches, its just its harder, youll need a power drill for it, using sandpaper + novus is easier by hand.

No we use it all the time for sumps. Just make sure to wipe it all off really good.

That said. how much of the cleaner did you use? You used the first bottle over multiple hours. did you use much of the cleaner? Did you have to use multiple bottles? And what sort of hand pressure did yu have to use? Was it a light brushing or did you have to put force into it? And, finally. Would it be "OK" to use on a tank that's already established? Specifically a tank that has corals and fish in it, but has a deep scratch on the outside. ( not the interior, obviously.)

Yes you can.

thank you. I will be trying this, for sure. Good video. How much pressure did you apply ? What size bottle did you use, the 8 ounce, or 2 ounce. How long did it take, to complete?

that's amazing, I wasn't sure if i should get a glass or an acrylic tank, I prefer acrylic but I don't want it to scratch, but now that I know I can fix it Im going to go with acrylic for sure.

Combined with what I saw in another video, I'm going to apply Formula/Step 3 with a 1000 grit wet sand sponge. Then I will apply Formula/Step 2 with a 2000 grit wet sand sponge. I think this will cut down on time dramatically!

Good product thanks for the info i sanded down a used acrylic clear for life 90 gal did a 1000 grit wet sanding first then a 2000 grit wet sanding all with a palm sander then buff and polished it with a car plastic head light restoration compound ended up ok so decided to get the novus polishes i sanded the tank again by hand very lightly with 1000 grit then 2000 grit after that used the novus products and ended up with almost perfectly new looking tank thanks again 👌👍

I juts used these producta on my plastic rear window in my 1986 Corvette convertible. It worked great. I used thee same products at my work before I retyired. A factory where we built heated and refrigerated display cases for supermarket apps. we used Novus #1, 2, &3 on plexiglass doors tht were scratched and also to polish the edges of plex after we cut them on a table saw. Sanded with 400grit disc then polish with #2, then #1 polish. We had glass like finish. Trust me, it works as advertised. You my just have to rub a little more than you want.

Does the acrylic stay clear like this when everything dries, or does it look this awesome because its wet?
@apdroidgeek17374 жыл бұрын
You have to use step 2 for a cleaner finish, it gets cloudy because of fine scratches that you cant see.

Old video, and perhaps you now know why the bottles are seemingly labeled in reverse order. If not: the bottles are labeled by the intensity of the scratches you're trying to remove.

I don’t think the number represents a step. Probably represents the grittiness like sandpaper
@dgryan8911 жыл бұрын
It is 3 2 1 because 3 is the highest number so there for has the most grit.
@bobfarley41022 жыл бұрын
I get doing it by hand but power tools and sandpaper exist for a reason.
@Brandywine69699 жыл бұрын
This is only a theory, but maybe they made 1 first, then decided to make 2 and 3 later to help people get scratches out instead of just trying to get scratches out with the polish alone? I'm not sure, but if you are willing to put the elbow grease into Step 3, Step 2 and 1 are the reward, to see it shine like that. Nice video.

I'm guessing like sandpaper, the higher the number the more coarse.
@markolmstead47094 жыл бұрын
That's incorrect. With sandpaper, the higher the number the finer it is.

I didn't really find the scratches on my sidepanel that annoying, but after installing some led's in my case the scratches became super distracting.. Its mostly finer scratches from a microfiber-cloth, so I hope I am able to get them removed.
