Fun fact: As a potion's master Snape always wrote down the instructions on the blackboard instead of using a standard textbook as Slughorn does. That implies that Snape is actually teaching his students the absolute best methods to brew potions, and that could be the reason Hermione starts to struggle at that class in 6th year, because Slughorn just tells them to follow the instructions in the book.

Answers to a few things you were confused about: - Yes, that's Fred & George's store, and one fun fact from the books is that, IIRC, they opened up that shop with Harry's Triwizard Tournament winnings that he gave them. - Dumbledore's hand isn't dirty towards the end of the movie. His hand was black the entire year, due to a *thrilling tale* as he points out in the beginning. - As far as we know so far, Snape keeps trying to help Draco due to the Unbreakable Curse Bellatrix casts in the beginning, as Snape promises Draco's mom. - That big ass bird in the end was Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix that came into the Chamber of Secrets to help Harry.

As the movie reveals, the book Harry had was Snapes from when he was a student and Snape created several spells as a student at Hogwarts, (7 in total which is impressive because even inventing ONE spell is extremely difficult). The curse Harry used, Sectumsempra was one of them, and Snape is the only person who knew how to counter/heal the curse. That's why Snape showing up to heal Draco was fortunate, else Draco would most certainly have died. Also, a bit of back story, Snape adopted the monicker The Half-Blood Prince because his father (who was abusive and whom he hated) was a muggle (non-magic person) and his mother was a witch, so he was a "half-blood". A fun fact, in the scene where Ron is in the infirmary and Dumbledore tells Professor Slughorn that he should be proud for teaching Harry, you can see Snape and Harry "trade" looks. The reason being is because Snape was the one who told the student's (including Harry) that a Bezoar can save the life of someone who's been poisoned in one of the earlier movies.

I appreciate the complexity of Draco's character so much, because he's in such a gray area; in this book/film in particular it breaks the assumptions that there's good and bad, and clear-cut sides that these characters are on. Draco is a product of his upbringing; spoiled rotten, growing up always being told that he's so much more superior than everyone else due to blood status and social status, having that expectation to uphold his family name as being the best of the best. He's incredibly smart and a naturally talented wizard, and he gets praise for that (part of why he bullies Hermione in particular so much is because not only is she Muggleborn and therefore "inferior", but she's top of her class and even more successful in school than *him...* big oof to his pride and his desire to impress his parents, I'm sure). As is the nature of most school bullies, his behavior towards other students is borne from his own insecurity and the fact that his family seemingly values power, success, and status more than him as a person. Draco isn't evil, he's a victim of his circumstances, scared and powerless to escape. What's great about his character, too, is that at the end of the day, being a victim still doesn't automatically make him a good person. He's still very much defined by his choices. It's a very realistic take on the trope of school-bully-turned-pity-party.

Well... Harry is The Chosen One, only if you mean chosen by Tommy Riddle himself. The prophecy was insanely vague about these things. Until Voldie inadvertently made him a who... I mean... Horcrux... There was no set future and more than one candidate. And I don't just mean Mr Glow Up. The only way Harry was chosen was by V-man himself. Set his fate in stone that day. Also, Draco did have a choice. And made the right one each time. A book needs a red herring and he was a brilliant one on every occasion.

And another thing from the story books is, that of another memory (if I am not mistaken) why Tom riddle is the way he is, he can't feel love, he can't have that emotion. His mom (a witch) actually gave love potions to his dad (a muggle) and conceived Tom. Tom was born during that time, and as the potion worn off, Tom's dad didn't love the mom back as she would hope. The love potion is a fake love, and Tom was born out of fake love. This is the primary reason why he can't feel any love in his heart. He was a result of a fake love, a darn chemical formula 😢

Okay, Alex, now some key points for you from the comics/story book. There is a reason why Defense against the dark arts teachers are always leaving by the end of the year due to some or other things happening or some mischief etc. In the book, there were several other memories that Dumbledore shared with Harry regarding Voldemort. And one of them was, when Voldemort came looking for a job at Hogwarts. He wanted the Defense against the dark arts post at Hogwarts. Unfortunately for him, he got rejected by Dumbledore for the position. Voldemort took out his wand at that time, and he hexed the position. He put a curse out on the subject, and since that day, Professors who opted to teach Defense against the dark arts leave every school year. 😮😢

One thing that is a bit of a shame is that they didn't include all of the memories that Dumbledore had about Voldemort. The ones that they didn't include are as follows; 1. A Ministry official visiting Voldemort's mother's family, the Gaunts, in their run down shack of a home, where you see that Voldemort's grandfather Marvolo (Voldemort's middle name) and his uncle Morfin are both crazed and inbred muggle haters who regularly speak to snakes, and that Voldemort's mother Merope was severely abused and that she ran away with a handsome Muggle man named Tom Riddle by bewitching him with a love potion. He later abandons her and she dies in the orphanage giving birth to Voldemort. 2. Voldemort at the age of 16 visiting his Uncle Morfin and framing him for the murders of Voldemort's muggle father and muggle grandparents that very night. (Their abandoned manor house is the one that Voldemort was hiding in at the beginning of Goblet of Fire, where he killed the old caretaker) 3. A young Voldemort in his 20's working at the dark wizard shop Borgin's and Burkes after Hogwarts, and while visiting a rich witch named Hepzibah Smith finding that she had a magical goblet that belonged to Helga Hufflepuff, as well as a locket that had belonged to Salazar Slytherin, an object that belonged to Voldemort's mother before she pawned it. That night, Hepzibah is killed by Voldemort by bewitching her house elf to poison her drink, and he steals the cup and locket. 4. Voldemort in the 1960's, visiting Hogwarts to ask for a job as Defense Against the Darks Arts teacher, only for Dumbledore to suspect that Voldemort only wants the job to recruit followers. After rejecting Voldemort for the job, no teacher has lasted more than a year at the job, as it is now cursed out of spite by Voldemort's hand.

14:30 Aside from it being so difficult only true Potion Master could do it and even them having a hard time not killing themselves trying, there are multiple more reasons given in the books: 1. It is illegal in almost all circumstances you would want to use it. 2. Regular or high consumption causes painful death Additionally, think about it logically: If everybody could (and would) use it all the time, what consequences would it have? 1. Would you want to if you cannot guarentee you caused a single of your achievements? If everything you managed in life is most likely because of a potion and no guarentee that you could do it without? You end up with most of the population having imposter syndrom. It would be a mental health infrastructure disaster! 2. Considering how often someone's success has to do with someone else's failure, the potion would cancel each other out.

Tbh, Dumbledore dying could be expected. It's pretty much a standard trope in the hero's journey that the mentor character has to die, so the hero faces the main challenge without any "safety net" (it raises the stakes and it's necessary to complete the hero's arc). The only other option would be to disable Dumbledore to a point that he is completely unable to help in any way.

She is the one who taught him occlumancy and who started showing him the really dark stuff in his father abcense and I think that kiss is a good way to show an underlying relationship that we can not see creepy af

I think this is among the most interestingly shot films ever created. The almost grayscale filter edited across the whole movie is a very cool stylistic choice, especially towards the ending with how dreadful and dark it gets. Dumbledore's death was a shock to everyone, especially considering - if I recall both books 6 & 7 had just released when this movie came out, so spoilers were scarce as they didn't know the source material yet.

In the movies I can see what you mean when you say Harry should be with Hermione because they take all of Rons moments and give them to Hermione and the completely butcher Ginny's character. But in the books Ginny is badass and Ron and Hermione are good together because Ron is street smart and Hermione is book smart

Yeah unfortunately Ron didn't get to shine much in the movies. That's just sad. I need re-read the books again. However I didn't read it all tho. (First time even I mean). So far I have read Prisoner of Azkaban (my most favourite one of the bunch), I have read chamber of secrets, Philosopher Stone, half blood prince and Deathly Hallows. I never got my hands on the Goblet of Fire book and the Order of the Phoenix books. Unfortunately.

Even in the books, I wanted Harry and Hermione to end up together. They always seemed like they were on the same page. Don't get me wrong! I love Ron, but he was always kind of on his own wavelength.

@@Shap0o.PlayZzYou're not missing much with Goblet It's definitely the one movie that was probably better than the book as the film cut out at least 150 pages of pure filler. Just opposite with book 3. The best book but the movie butchered it

The "Big Ass Bird" is Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix. The phoenix is very loyal, and now that Dumbledore is dead, Fawkes has no reason to stay at Hogwart's. In the books, instead of a single screech, he sings a song that mesmerizes everybody. After Dumbledore's funeral, he flies away and is never seen again.

This is the worst adapted movie in the series. Leaving so much incredibly good content from the book out in way of cheesy love stories, that were not in the book btw. Some content left out that come to mind: - Ron's' path to Quidditch greatness, he's quite shit to begin with and struggles. - A HUGE amount of information about Voldemort's past, his family, and his dark personality even as a child. - The half blood prince's book is barely in the movie. - How Harry actually convinces Slughorn. In the book Harry really gives it to Slughorn, and says he's a disgrace to Lily's memory if I remember correctly. Such a powerful passage. - How the Weasley brothers open their shop, they actually drop out of school without finishing exams after the deal with Umbridge, They get the Tri Wizard prize money from Harry to open their shop. Just a small detail, but I like it and hate that it isn't included. Loving the reactions though. Will patiently wait for the next one.

Fun fact: the concept of seeing memories was invented, like the invisible cloak, purely as a plot device, to allow Harry to see things he couldn't see (as the book was written from a very strict first-person POV from Harry's viewpoint). Not uncommon, but Jo did a good job, and it worked quite well within the wider setting and story, of course.

Side note I will always feel bad during the dinner party scene. Robert Knox was the of noxious boy talking about potions being a waste of time. He was supposed to have a continuing role in the next film but he died just prior to the release of the Half-Blood Prince. He got stabbed protecting his brother.

Still catching up on your HP videos, so I don't know if this has been explained already. But, the reason Harry doesn't tell or share things with the adults around him, is because for the 11 years Harry has been taught to not trust help. And (at least in the books) it was drilled into Harry's head not ask questions.

The big bird at the end of the movie was Fawkes, the phoenix, who came to Harry's aid in the Chamber of Secrets in the second movie. With Dumbledore now gone, Fawkes is flying away to seek another companion. So, it does symbolize that Dumbledore's death is a transcendence (Phoenixes are perennially reborn), but it more immediately signifies loss.

You call it a graduation hat 🎓 but in the UK, teachers used to wear them (called a mortar board) along with long black robes. It was the standard dress until about the early 70s when it started to go away. University professors kept up the tradition for a while and some public schools (you call them private schools) still do.

I am glad you like the movies. They are quite good. I do have to say that you really need to take the time and read the entire series of books. You were correct thinking they contain more back story for many things. For example of missing content. The Order of the Phoenix is the longest book in the series by far and it is also the shortest movie. They cut a ton of content out of it to make it fit into the one movie. Keep up the good work and stay happy :)

Draco has always been my favorite character in a less magic way I always related to him the most. Harry was the chosen one, he was loved by everyone and popular in school. Malfoy was raised in an abusive and racist family trying to keep up with his family's high expectations, seeking their love. He had no real friends in school ever, no one he could trust with his real feelings. He told himself he was chosen when in reality he never had a choice. This is my favorite movie because it shows exactly that. Draco is not the asshole Kid anymore he is a vulnerable character with depth and I love how Tom was able to portray that. The scene on the Tower has me crying like a baby every time.
