I wish we had reliable 5G reception at our house. But the cell towers and the antennas are not positioned well for us. We're stuck with two fiber companies who have colluded on pricing for their 300/500/1000 Mbps Internet service. It would be great to have other options, especially those that are cheaper.

@MrBunet1900 To save money Xfinity introduced me to their Now internet. For me, the Now internet instantly felt too good to be true... cheap $30 service, no equipment charges and throw the equipment away when you no longer want the service. I just did a little research about this 5G that so many people complained about years ago. The 5G uses radio waves and my first thought was that doesn't sound secure. Sure enough radio waves are NOT encrypted and can be breached. Our personal data is very valuable to criminals. Oh well, it will cost me a little more each month, but I am going to stick with encrypted internet service.

They use the 5G cell towers, so if you have trouble with cell service - the home internet probably isn’t a good fit.

The cable service cost???? plus $30 does not sound like a bargin. I get Fronteer or Spectrum for $30 total a month with no cable fees. about 500mps. It;s a year or two price. When at the end of the low price service I just switch internet providers back and forth for a new low price. Each time it's free instilation.

NOW Internet does not require cable TV. It's cable internet for $30/month.

I’m confused with the coaxial cable. I have that outlet. But does xfinity need to dig in my yard and turn on the switch near the outside box.

This is a self-install service. Have you had cable at the home in the past? If so, you are likely able to just plug in and go like I did.

Hi Michael, I'm a xfinity customer with voice and internet that's supposed to be a higher speed than the $30 NOW level, but it is not. I pay $112.72 a month for the bundle & that's with my own $400 Motorola gateway. So, I'm planning to port the phone over to a MVNO that is cheaper than NOW's mobile offerings and cancel my xfinity internet. I was wondering, how long do I have to wait from when I cancel my existing xfinity internet and then order the NOW internet? Hopefully saving some money by doing all this.
@MichaelSaves2 ай бұрын
I am not sure how long the gap needs to be. I imagine not long. I just know you can’t actively have Xfinity and NOW at the same time. And hopefully they’ll overnight you the gateway like they did for me, so it won’t be too much of a pain. Give me an update on how it goes.
@jackkopp7155Ай бұрын
If you are ready to switch you can call to cancel xfinity services but request a disconnect date 2 weeks out. You can then immediately order NOW online. I got the router in a few days and set it up this morning. No issues so far. Speeds as advertised. Time to start collecting the equipment to return.

@@MichaelSaves Hi Michael, I ported the Xfinity voice over to Tello and when I certain the porting was successful (about a week) I headed over to a Xfinity store and made the mistake of going on a Monday when there were many people in front of me waiting to be served. Once a CSR was free, I simply told him that I wanted to "downgrade" to NOW and he did say the NOW software program they have to use is a bit glitchy sometimes. The actual change from Xfinity to Xfinity NOW took about 20 minutes, first he had to close the original account and then open a new one. After that I was on my way with a new NOW gateway. I did go with the higher speed NOW plan because of security cameras. Installation was quick and easy. The Tello phone plan will be $16 a month with all the fees (taxes) and Now internet should be $45--until prices go up, I'm guessing due to inflation. So, I went from $112 & change month to $51.

I’ve still have Xfinity cable but I pay around $85 and then I also pay for the modem or whatever equipment I have. I have cable and I keep saying I’m going to cut the cord but here’s the thing. I don’t have a smart TV and don’t want to get one because my Samsung TV still works great. I wanted to get the Verizon 5G internet, but it seems so complicated with set up and canceling Xfinity and everything that I just keep procrastinating. Should I get a new smart TV, should I get Verizon 5G internet? Also, I’m supposed to have a speed of 300 on my Internet, but I know it’s not that fast. I do get buffering quite a bit. I need help!

@@kharmaiz Ok, that confuses me but I could be missing something! Comcast/Xfinity is your internet.
