Appreciate your contributions! Would love to get some input from you guys as far as how to get usbromservice to sync with an external drive. For whatever reason, whenever I try to sync emulation arena with the roms on my external drive, I’m greeted by a mount error of some kind. I have no idea of how to troubleshoot it, as I’ve never seen this issue arise on retropie/emulationstation

I love the Tegra X1. As old as it's getting, it's still an awesome chip. My modded Switch with Android 10 and a 2.09ghz CPU overclock performs about the same as this.

@@carholic-sz3qv Yeah the current mainstream Switch is using a 14nm Tegra X1. Another metric of power is to look at the ARM CPU's they have. The Switch is running at best 4 ARM Cortex A57 CPUs @ 1ghz Whereas the SD888 is running 1 ARM Cortex X1 @ 3ghz and 3 Arm Cortex A78 performance cores. The next gen Switch processor is likely to be something with a newer ARM CPU, paired with a new Nvidia GPU architecture.

New purchasers of the 4gb Nano should remember to get the 5v 4a power supply for full processing power I hope future videos can benchmark the difference between this an 5v 2.5a usb c power, even if it hasn't been noticeable during emulation

yes, I got some cheap 5v 4a psu first but still got the messages about not having enough power, but then I bought a Meanwell 30W 5V 6A dinrail psu instead and a dc-plug.

I have to echo the same. I've been using my 4GB Nano for a year now for object recognition and made the initial mistake of buying a (nicely reviewed) 5v 4a psu.. which I soon found out wasn't enough.. or wasn't supplying quite enough. Just get something that can give it 30w and save yourself the headache.

This is definitely a more compelling purchase than a Pi. I'm pretty smitten with my MiSTer FPGA and running the gamecube/ps1 stuff on the real hardware. Otherwise, I'd jump in. Once the MiSTer has PS1 and Saturn, it's pretty much game over for software emulation.

Have you thought about doing a video on how to setup kodi as an emulation front end? Also, this looks like an ubuntu distro that auto launches emulation station. Have you thought about putting out a video on how to use a more custom linux install that only has what you need to emulate games? I bet you could get more performance if you didn't have a desktop taking up cpu cycles.

I have builds on the Nano here and on the PI4, both an actual PI4 and a CM4, the Nano is a fair bit more powerful, not only is the GPU a lot stronger, but the drivers are much better, and its got Open GL and X11, not only Vulkan/GLES.

Many of the problems are due to the ram is 25GB / s bandwidth, which is what makes in this aspect more bottleneck with respect to PC GPUs. I just have to say an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS from years ago had about 55-60GB / s but without the latest technologies supporting Opengl 3.3 you could already emulate the Gamecube / wii . So a GPU below 50GB / s has limitations in certain heavy games due strong bandwidth and can't up resolution.

Excellent! Thanks for this video. For SWITCH, the CPU can go 2.3Ghz, and the EMC can go 2.5Ghz from the default 1.6Ghz. The overclock of EMC can help the performance a lot. Is there any config file can overclock the EMC on the Jetson Nano? Appreciate!

Is ARES also compatible with Jetson AGX Xavier? It has 8-core Carmel ARMv8.2 CPU @ 2.26GHz, 512-core GPU with Volta architecture, and 32 GB LPDDR4x RAM. So it can perform really well!

I’ve tried this image, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get ROMs up and running on it. For whatever reason, my external drive isn’t recognized as mounted when I try to activate USBRomservice and sync the drive to the board.

@@mrtravoiceburges oh, no. No problem flashing the image, or getting it to run. The issue arises when you try to boot any roms that you might want to run from an external drive. If you plug in an external drive and then try to enable usbromservice from the retroarena settings to get retroarena to synchronize with your roms folder, you’ll get an error message about the drive not being mounted. I couldn’t find a workaround to get it to boot any of my roms from my external drive

The 2GB model DOES NOT have an M.2 slot, sadly. I just found this out personally quite recently. Using a USB wifi adaptor, and no chance whatsoever of dropping the SSD in there that I had planned to use.

@@orangezeroalpha Per Nvidia moderator when asked on the dev. community board: "Jetson Nano doesn’t support SATA connection protocol through its M.2 Key-M slot. It supports only PCIe protocol. With PCIe protocol, NVMe SSDs are the ones we get these days." There are also official guides on Nvidia's site regarding how to update the firmware to add SSD support if yours is older. The catch is that it has to be the B01 model with the m.2 socket, not the A02 included with the 2GB units.

Metroid prime some playable running around ~ 35-50fps you will needed enable Underclock cpu 40-50% in dolphin options no crash detected. It works much better than a year ago when it was difficult to exceed 20fps. I haven't tried Mega Man X or Metroid Prime 2 so I can't tell you.

The RRP is still $99, but it seems like most places are out of stock. I got a 2GB a while back when it was on sale for $49, but I wish I got the 4GB instead. Nevertheless it is fine for some basic emulation.

Mine went to sleep about 30 minutes into a game of Alien Crush on PC Engine. I held down the shift key on my keyboard and it woke back up and asked me for the password for aresuser. I'm going to try to turn off automatic suspend. But a gaming image should have this turned off by default.

TBH, that Windwaker is kinda hard to emulate, I tried it in my Powerful Smartphone and PC and still drop frames in some area especially in the place where you save Tetra but other games runs pretty smooth like RE4 Wii or Gamecube
