Yup. Awaiting my copy. Loved the theme of the series and the Artwork is great. Building the buildings from the grid reminds me of Sagrada's die placement... but I agree why. Other than I want that building and I need to build these 2 or 3 building first to get to it. yes, will play this solo. Thanks.

This is my first Laukat game. I just sorted through all the bits and I will study the rule book today (this box is packed with components, holy crap). Im definitely going to take your advice and play solo before introducing the game to my wife. After watching your video I'm gonna have to take another look at Empires of the Void II. I remember having interest in it last summer but I think I just picked up Xia instead and just forgot about other space games. Maybe I missed it in the video but how did you like The Ancient World 2nd Edition?

Played yesterday with 3 and with 4 players later, it does take up to 4 hours but we had a great time. Played solo and was really bored. We played standard mode, can't wait for story mode. Great game but Near and Far is still better for me (one of my favorite games). 8/10 easily

The more you play, this game will be less and less multiplayer solitaire. Majority of the point come from Building and Villager so player need to compete for Builder Specialist and Villager. Villager also don’t refill unless you spend 2Exp, this force player to timing the villager gain well to obtain bottled demon or crystal produced villager. This game appears to be solitaire only because you don’t think deep enough and play it that way. Play it more and you will realize it has a decent amount of interaction.

Wow really, I hope that didn't intend to come off as a bit insulting? Firstly I play games plenty to get them ready for a review, not just once or twice - the whole "play it more" excuse is so tired and used only when someone disagrees with someone without any context or backing. Secondly you are really over exaggerating the importance of the specialist competing. Every player will have one and there's a ton of them in the specialist deck, I've never been at a point where I've wanted to build in a round and have no means to. There's plenty of other things to do in the game. Villagers also refill automatically when the villager line is empty and 2XP for other cases is really not that hard to obtain, not to mention most people will just take the last villager for ease and then pick from a big row (assuming they got 2+ villagers in the action). Hell you can get specialists who just churn it out for you, grab one of them and your XP woes are over. So I do "think deep enough" and know from the experience of "many plays" of this game that what little interaction it has, doesn't justify the 40-45 min per player time it adds to the game when the bot does pretty much the same thing in half the time.

@@TheBrokenMeeple Wow you just reconfirmed my point. As I imagine you underestimate the importance of building a building. The competition for building is not whether you can or cannot build it in a turn but how many you can build in 1 game. About villager, yes many people will think that they will select from the new set after it depleted and refill but that action also allow other player to gather what you left without any cost to pay so the result is the same. You don’t make any difference in VP. You may hope you have a luck of a draw to pull only 1 good villager and the rest are bad or you can spend 2Exp and take risk only for yourself. My biggest disagree point for your review is “95% multiplayer solitaire”. It is over exaggerated. Game like Terraforming Mars is 95% multiplayer solitaire, not this one.
