(NOW SOLD) FOR SALE £5,995 - 1998 YAMAHA R1 4XV - Absolutely stunning original factory spec

SORRY - LOOK AT A '98 FIREBLADE OR GIXXER IN COMPARISON ... there isn't any! These early R1's are JUST supreme, rode out today on it & loved the earthyness of it, wriggling headstock on FULL juice, front end up with no hesitation!.. I've now owned & ridden over 30 R1's of all incarnations & every time I ride one it's like putting on a faithful pair of slippers! LOL BUT they are MAGICAL . This is a beautiful example.
Very early frame & engine number as one of the very 1st fabled R1's!
Genuine UK example in very very factory standard order with low miles.
Comes with original brake lines (braided hoses are the only non standard part on the bike) & rare pillion grab rail, owners manual, part service history with various invoices (with one stamp in service book), tool kit, every old MOT from 2004 - 2013 then it went into a collection storage & wasn't ridden, lots of old tax discs & datatag paperwork. The collector bought it in 2010 then put in storage in 2013 then sold in 2022 as thinning out a very large collection. HPI clear. Full length uncut rear mudguard with reflector as well so it is 100% right. (Granted for the rivet counters there is an invoice on file from "Pro-Bolt" for some of the bolts that were replaced in 2005 but very cheaply rectified if it bothers you)
I bought this bike off the collector in 2022 & serviced it with new oil & filter & brake fluids in June 2022 & then sold it to the current owner & rode it over to him. He then put it in his garage as he had always wanted a 1st year R1 - just looked at it, never rode it or took it out of his garage & has just run it up once a month!!! Due to not using it & pressure from his wife he decided to sell it & contacted me to see if I would buy it back off him & so it is with me again. 4 previous owners.
The condition is superb & it is a very early production number & being the sought after 1st year comes with the most desirable "Graffiti" style YZF graphics. This is the R1 to HAVE after the white/red edition which are way more ... for now!

Whilst it is running, the carbs will need a clean/balance or it may just need a good run (I've just put in some carb cleaner & fresh fuel for now) and I have priced it taking this into account. I haven't had it done or MOT'd as this may well go into a collection again & not ridden so seems a bit pointless. For anyone who questions the no MOT since 2013 I can 100% assure you it hasn't been a track bike & was genuinely stored as when I got it from the collector there was a layer of dust as thick as you like & it needed a bloody good detail. Besides you can tell just from the condition this bike hasn't been abused or tracked for all those years.
There can't be too many as tidy as this floating around & for sure a good investment buy.
I am semi-retired & do this as a passion/pension top up - consequently my bikes are competitively priced (I have no overheads) & I believe you will not find better presented examples as I personally detail them PROPERLY with no jet washing or harsh chemicals by using waterless wash & go system & a lot of WD40.
