In your grow room now (and later in the greenhouse) what about installing a big whiteboard? You could map your beds out on it and mark what is in each bed. This would allow you to make changes as you plant. Plus it would give you a "map" of what is planted where. (sorry I am a big visual person lol)

Keep in mind that you can use taller summer plants like tomatoes to extend cool weather crops like lettuce. So if you were to switch your lettuce and tomatoes by the time the tomatoes are taller they'll start providing some filtered shade to your lettuce right when they need it.

Hi Becky. I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, but I had a very large greenhouse and the upkeep on it was extensive. I would have killed for a room like you have that faces south, and I bet the greenhouse wouldn't do as well as that room does. Give yourself some time, but that room could save you thousands (NOT building a greenhouse) and is attached to your house-- a win-win.
@JustBellsprout

In case you didn't already know- there is an attachment for the pressure washer that is specifcally for power washing large stones/concrete slabs. It's a kinda big black/grey disk shape head attachment that you kinda skim along the floor like you would a mop/steam/vacuum, and it keeps the spray more centered and contained and makes the pressure stronger for sectioning on flooring! 🥰 other than that tidbit wonderful video, super relaxing and fun as always! Can't wait for the next one! ❤

Now that you have all the chicken poop (etc.) washed off the patio area, you can "soft wash" the same areas... You might want to wait until you've finished your hardening-off and planting, since that will add additional dirt on your concrete. After that: For every gallon of water, mix 2 c of bleach and a big squirt of dish soap (I like Dawn). Take a sprayer (or watering can) and apply that mix thoroughly to the area. Allow it to sit for at least 15-30 minutes, then just hose it all off (no need to pressure wash it off). I think you will be surprised to see how much "cleaner" everything looks! If you don't have "chunky stuff" (like chicken poop!), it is a much faster and easier method than pressure washing -- with FABULOUS results!
@DonnaMSchmid

Oh, and BTW, you can use this same solution on your siding and plastic or wicker patio furniture, too! (If you have colored cushions, I would test the colorfastness, first...) It cleans and disinfects!

Looks great! That’s the trouble with full free ranging- they get broody in the Spring and start making secret nests all over the place. We’ve had great success with keeping our chickens in our large fenced orchard. It’s a dual use area- fruit and eggs 😁. The chickens scratch up bugs and fertilize trees. When we muck out their coop, we use their bedding/poop to mulch trees. We also grow roses in there. Blueberries go somewhere else because the chickens peck off the buds in the Spring. It actually works really well!

Becky, I plant lots of red lettuce because it's so nutritious, but I don't like "soft" lettuces so I wash it all when I pick it and then I put it in either a zip lock bag with paper towels inside or a big covered bowl with paper towels on top of the lettuce. The paper towels absorb any excess water and after a day or so the lettuce is much more crisp than when I picked and it stays nice for at least a week. This also works on my green lettuce and spinach.

You coul plant you😮r lettuce in between your potatoes. Lots of wasted space on those beds or maybe celery or cucumbers in those beds. Companion planting. No wasted spaces in the garden. Or radishes onions. Just an idea.

I think the beds are far enough apart that I don’t think you have to worry about a shadow. May also want wear an apron to hold your seed packets while out in the garden. It’s going to look wonderful can’t wait to see it in a month!!! 😊

Just a random opinion but if you keep those chairs out in the front you could get some darker red cushions for them to tie in with the color of your door. :)

Look into getting a rotating surface cleaner attachment for concrete. It works amazingly and is such a time saver.

They make chicken wire to attach to wood fencing. I like the look of metal and wood fences around patios and porches. Just a suggestion.

I enjoy those carpet cleaning videos too, so relaxing, and lawn mowing. The taller the grass, the more satisfying to watch. My son and I have plans to try some of your recipes next month while I'm visiting him. It's just a question of how to choose which recipes!

Becky, here's a thought for after you build your greenhouse. Add a sink and stove to that room and use it for canning.

I am getting caught up with all your videos, we have been installing self wicking boxes this year and I’m so excited very time I see you complete another job. I feel your accomplishment as my own!! I cannot believe this is the girl in the original videos 2 years ago. You should be so proud of yourself. Can wait to see that garden in its glory in 45-60 days from now. Blessings Becky and family!

Landscape fabric has been a major game-changer for me this year! I use it in an in-ground garden and, in previous years I spent HOURS daily weeding. Yesterday, I weeded what would take me weeks before in ONE HOUR!! My back is saved🙌🏻

I think it was a good idea for the fabric but there are times when you cant like the things that are too small for the holes in the fabric like peas, onions, potatoes I love my fabric no more or very little weeding, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Your garden is looking amazing.
