Now THAT Was Entertaining..

OK Guys, it's time to take a look at the big game last night between the Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers. Game 1, Series 2, the Canucks pull off a major comeback and win this game 5-4 in regulation.. However the goaltending for both teams was rather interesting. Lets break this one down.

Ian Cole intentionally passed that puck off the boards. He redeemed some of his mistakes like the veteran former cup winner that he is. Every team the Canucks face have their own dynamics that the Canucks have to adapt to. The Predators tight knit gritty style made the Canucks adapt and play that way too, like a chess match, that's why they lost 2 against the Preds, the scores and shots were low, but the Oilers style opens up the Canucks to more scoring chances, look at the Oilers total shots in game 1, Vancouver is not L.A., like some good minds were saying, Tocchet didn't yank Silovs after the 4th goal, imagine that on the psyche of your team, it would be like telling your team we lost, let's get the next one, but Tocchet didn't break down the old smaller coaches office for nothing, he had them build a bigger one to fit every single mind he could pick at their brains, be inclusive, open to every one paid to do their job and put in their feedback, leave all ego's at the door, attention to all the details, a full buy-in, total investment from the top offices down to those that sell you a hotdog.

Goaltending and coaching determine playoff success. Plus a sprinkling of fairy dust from the hockey gods. ;-) Tocchet is proving just what an excellent coach he is; the Canucks play the same way whether they are up or down in a game, they are very well coached and focussed. Don't know how far either of these teams can go, but all the Oilers hype before this series started was a bit weird, I thought?

I genuinely think the goaltending was good! there were just a lot of good players on the ice. in his interview after you can tell Skinner was big mad about that garland sneaky little goal and won't be letting it happen again. honestly if the oilers won, I go back to being their fan and rooting for them to win the cup. but I've said it before and I'll say it again. people need to stop underestimating the Canucks!!!!!!

I also hope either the Canucks or Oilers go on to win the Stanley Cup after all hockey is Canada's national sport and you haven't had a cup win since the 1993 Habs. It would send a huge message and be uplifting for a lot of people. I also have no beef with either team. The goaltending on both sides looks pretty bad we have to hope it gets better...

MANNN there were a lot of weird goals this game. Sharp angle Joshua shot, very sharp angle deflection from Miller, Skinner with the redirect on himself, a few squeakers. Well, the Canucks are using their third string goalie, who never played in the NHL before they brought him up to start the playoffs..... so what's Edmonton's excuse - not suggesting either team has to apologize for goaltending when you consider the calibre of hockey shooters they are facing. I guess you forget Silov shut out the Predators in their last game as well, so cut him some slack if he happened to "win ugly" this time. Grant Fuhr was an absolute sieve on his bad nights and only as good as he had to be most of the time, until all the marbles were on the line. He's in the hall of fame now, by the way.
