Every time I hear this song I think about a point in my life were I explored my thoughts on separate consciousness and left and right brain being different and that I’m just along for the ride really. Back when I did explore this something stopped me in my tracks that terrifies me to this day. I went to sleep while thinking about and I had a dream and it was just my consciousness floating and I felt something else something so vast so powerful so much bigger than me that I terrified me. Then it looked at me from every possible direction and snap back awake like it didn’t want me there. Scary shit man. But for real I love the song keep up the good work!

@ina70843 жыл бұрын
I just think about my personality disorder and how it keeps crossing from one into another making me a completely different person so often. There comes a period where the "mixed" label doesn't even fit anymore. Until another transition that is. How can you even treat something that disappears while at the same time still exists waiting for its turn.
@Nempo133 жыл бұрын
@@enigmaticrage812 You missed both the quote, and the full treatise that eventually lead to the quote. The quote everyone knows (which itself is actually only half the full quote but we'll let it slide): When you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares into you. The full story that leads to that thinking comes out of WW1 trench warfare and a soldier that wrote musings about what he witnessed and what it does to you. The true measure of a man is when one can look soul crushing horror in the eye, and not flinch. The true measure of humanity is when that same man is able to come back from the horror and still be able to smile and laugh. To truly be human, one must first experience the darkness of life and survive it. Till then you are merely a facsimile of what a human is; a copy, a fake.

This image is of Legion, from the game, Dead by Daylight. So fitting. The Legion's backstory is a classic peer pressure/leadership manipulation through bullying trope, and this fits Frank, Julie, Joey, and Susie, all in one (pun may be intended) still can't get over the text on their cosmetic for the blight. Dark stuff.
@enith-ms3jw10 ай бұрын
I always interpreted this song as a man who struggled with addiction and suicidal thoughts reaching out to a friend who went through the same ordeal. They rely on each other for support, but as time passes he realizes that his friend may be holding him back with the worst of intentions. I see that last part as the "friend" revealing that it was actually a manifestation of the man's problems, leading him down a darker path until he succumbs to despair. I view this song as a story of self destructive habits and how they can lead to disaster.

Damn... That hit me deep. I've listened to this song many times but never caught all the lyrics. Now I've always felt like this was a masterfully written song about the ego and the inner you, or the constant war of who you are/and who you think you should be (weather its letting yourself down in some way or not living up to the pressures of society and the mind-talk about that), but when this came up I decided to pay attention, and that line "veins were made for addicts" truly added a whole new dimension to this song... having held the chord for my older bro while he shot up when i was 14 then almost getting beat to death.... watching friends lose themselves to fentanyl.... and even pass away.... This song is truly brilliant. Its open enough for interpretation in all sorts of manners and the only question that changes what it means to us as listeners is.... how dark is it in our minds? Truly a work of art. Thank you

Makes me feel like there's multiple personalities singing. The original person "I'll close all the doors till I'm the only one controlling now." Darkness " *I'll* close all the doors" It feels like a story of inner turmoil in which the part of them that their trying to lock away wins in the end.

Though we know there is( as is) how it were, now mind you look into silent eyes, Tell me what is heart beating in nothingness mean. Why isn't strange nothingness to have heart beating in it. Questioning then who's heart is going to stop cause it won't hear its own beating. NOW THAT WE’RE ALONE How dark is it in your mind? I won’t stop until I can find the dead in all of you And I know you’re far from home How dark is it in your mind? I can’t feel anything inside Believe me when I say I’m alive and you’re my home See the trouble that I cause, I feed the thoughts you never saw But you just won’t let me go Won’t let me go Explain away the panic but veins were made for addicts So promises of change are put in boxes in the attic Won’t let you know Won’t let you know Don’t get close, they’ve got eyes of stone You’ve been fallin’ to pieces, they give them new life, new meaning Oh they tend to hold, when you push they pull But the fallin’ is easy when you’re numb How dark is it in your mind? I won’t stop until I can find the dead in all of you And I know you’re far from home How dark is it in your mind? I can’t feel anything inside Believe me when I say I’m alive and you’re my home When did the lines all blur to gray? You may never see them How can I sleep when you’re awake? What’s the point in dreamin’? I close my eyes and feel the weight Fallin’ from the ceilin’ On the floor Screamin’ no Woah-oh-ooh-oh No tellin’ what I might do, somethings in my head that I’m not sure that I can fight through And it haunts me, coming back to say that it wants me Now I’ve always been afraid of the shadow in my closet that somebody said I made up It’s inside now, tryna take over my mind now But down this road I don’t see a ghost It’s more like a feelin’ that almost keeps me from breathin’ I cannot hide from those silent eyes They’re pullin’ me back in, controlling every facet, they’re askin’ How dark is it in your mind? I won’t stop until I can find the dead in all of you And I know you’re far from home How dark is it in your mind? I can’t feel anything inside Believe me when I say I’m alive and you’re my home When did the lines all blur to gray? You may never see them How can I sleep when you’re awake? What’s the point in dreamin’? I close my eyes and feel the weight Fallin’ from the ceilin’ On the floor Screamin’ no Woah-oh-ooh-oh I love it, stole them, take the parts and mold ‘em Makin’ sure the mood will go unnoticed So you gotta hide it, it’s a suicidal mindset Growin’ ‘til the roots are deep inside it You vent so I write it Tell me when you sit alone, tell me when you’re numb at home, tell me when your hopes are gone Steppin’ on throats like a nihilist Devil works loud so I’m workin’ in the silence You’re prayin’ that you’ll change me (I know that, I know that) And it hurts to think you made me (Can’t go back, can’t go back) And it’s easiest to blame me (I’ll show that, I’ll show that) When you track the steps you’ll find the power that you gave me And now that we’re alone friend And all the good is broken I’ll pull down the shades and close all the doors ‘til I’m the only one controllin’ Close all the doors ‘til I’m the only one controllin’ now I’ll close all the doors…

That song was incredible. My entire life I've only been myself (a human) but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one... and somewhere along the line some kind of alien species took over everybody else. There's definitely always a war in my mind though. Like whoever was supposed to take me over still is always trying to. Or maybe our spirit and soul is always at War to control the body. Like we all have a Michael and a Lucifer side trying to be Alpha. But both are doing it at the expense of the magical child in each human. Anyway I still don't know exactly what's going on... but that song was extremely powerful.
