Some women have to be the clean up. It sure as hell won't be me. As soon as he said he had a wife and two kids, I'm out. I do not care if they're separated. When she found out she was pregnant, she made the mistake of telling him before she thought about what she wanted to do. These men will beg for a baby that they won't take care of.

NTWG I realize that this was not a love story At All. This was struggle 101. And Terry McMillan made us think it was ok to settle, suffer and wait for things to get better. To accept less than we deserve and give more than we're given, as long as there's passion and good sex.

Franklin had too much ego and too many excuses off top! He quit before exhausting possibilities for his family and that’s the difference from BW n BM. My aunts cleaned homes back then becuz they had to. My uncles didn’t do enuf. I still see that pride n entitlement issue in BM in 2023.

Love this movie and loved the book even more, however; I used Terry McMillan material as what NOT to tolerate in a relationship. I used to feel bad that I couldn’t date men that were broke for long because of my humble beginnings, but in reality, why do women have to struggle just because some men lack aspirations to be better. Whitley Gilbert says it best, “A educated, enterprising, and ambitious man is never broke.”

Break it uuuuup! 😂😂😂 But yes, this movie really taught me as a young girl to really watch out for yaself… and watch for men that really just wanna waste ya time and use you. Because in essence, he really did use d and bubblegum to manipulate his life existence. It’s literally sad. In the now, men are so upset that they have to contribute the full package. That beat ya chest, primitive attitude ain’t allowed no more… Because let’s be honest, it NEVER worked to begin with.

I don’t like the stigma attached to high value men like all they’re good for is their money. You have high valued men who are good in bed, they have personality and they are family oriented. A broke dusty is a broke dusty no matter how charming they are. Broke dusties can also be whack in bed, abusive emotionally, physically and spiritually. Broke dusties can also lack personality as well.
