Is just a new dog in the house and has to get used to it. But he is being gentle. I don’t see any threat or aggressiveness. I see two dogs discovering each other.

We went through this last year, around this same time. My 12yo chihuahua and I were out and about when we stopped for gas. A van pulled up next to us and, seeing my chihuahua, asked me if I wanted another one. Honestly thought they were trying to scam me at first, but they opened the back and took out this tiny, little, teacup chihuahua and handed him to me. Once we got home and my old guy got a good sniff of him, he didn't really want anything to do with him after that, but the pup kept at it and by Christmas, they were besties. Then, we lost my old guy in May, he died suddenly of a stroke, then cardiac arrest. I really wasn't sure how I would cope because he'd been my shadow his whole life and I'm still completely devastated, but having this little one has helped immensely. It's almost like my little old man knew and matched us up ahead of time, so I wouldn't be alone. I'm just glad his last 6 months or so was spent with a new friend and companion. You'll always be my heart, Roxas, thanks for bringing Axel to us before you had to cross the rainbow Bridge. We love and miss you something awful, and can't wait to see you again someday!! ❤️‍🩹

My oldest, who's 27 now, and my youngest, 22, have always been Kingdom Hearts fans right alongside me, so once we had Roxas, it was a no brainer what to name the others over the years. 💙

I had a similar experience. I had an anxious 8 year old German shepherd who suffers from anxiety. We got a new puppy and the first couple days were nightmares. My older dog kept trying to bite my puppy really hard. But they eventually became best friends and now play and sleep together.

Was it truly a hard bite? Or just a correction bite that all older dogs do to teach other dogs. Because pups can yelp like they’re dying from a dog correction and people tend to freak out. Then, mistakenly correct the older dog when the puppy doesn’t even have a scratch on them and not even traumatized. We as humans put our emotions and behaviors on animals when it’s just simple dog language.
