We tackle a whole pile of stuff in todays episode. First things first I mount our re-covered seats fresh out of the upholstery shop. Big thanks to TCS Auto Upholstery for taking care of us. Check em out of Facebook.
With the interior somewhat squared away, we go under the car and pull the old fuel system out to make room for the new Holley Sniper set up. FYI I hate tri 5 wagon tanks!
At 22:30 in the video we call out ‪@CaseysCustoms‬ for being a click baiting sell out...
Then we round out the day by welding in a shock brace and running all new AN fuel line front to back. Like always, we're waiting on parts but we will keep moving forward.

I had to take a moment , while you were under the "So Madd" . That was a lot more metal than you started out with ! Looks good , Dan . Sounds like you're getting all of the important pieces . Moving & shaking . She's already BBBB bad , Bad to the Bone . I don't know how thick the floor is , but a bigger footprint spreads the load , when putting weight on it . More surface area . She's already a beautiful ride . It will be nice to watch the "ride along" . That Cheshire cat grin , the commentary from Queen D , Lol . Priceless ! Awe , now you have to paint the fill tube , to match the rest of the Nomad . DD Speed Shop , ROCKS ! Cheers .

In the last 5 years I've used the Corvette filter/regulator over a half dozen times on swaps. They work great and really simplify things, I just mount them as far forward as possible circulating cool fuel as far up the line as possible. I then dead head the output to my fuel rails just like GM. I have run a surge tank with a low pressure pump circulating fuel from the main tank thru it with a high pressure pump in it and then the Corvette filter/regulator feeding the fuel rails but it's a lot of plumbing and wiring but it still works great being dead headed and I've never had a fuel temperature problem. The early designs did have temp problems circulating fuel in and out of the surge tank fed by a low pressure pump but that's a thing of the past past. Ask me how I know, lol.

Should make a little flip up access panel in the floor above the pump.
@toejam503
@toejam503 Жыл бұрын
To prevent future problems with the fuel pump, cut an access hole in the floor so you can pull the pump up thru the floor. Many GM cars had this in the 1980s- 90s, although most were in the trunk. GM eliminated the access hole to save costs and charge more time in flat rates for fuel pump r&r.

The corvette regulator will be over powered by the pump if it is larger than a 255lph. I used the tanks ink kit in my 1953 belair. Hangar looks the same. I installed a 450lph pump and the corvette regulator failed immediately. I had to go with an AFPR. Much better for piece of mind. My car is a boosted ls and needed (still needs) more fuel. Great looking car and love the project. 😊

Back in the olden days fuel line from the tank until the engine was under vacuum. So if you got a hole in the fuel line it would dribble gas mostly while the engine wasn't running. Now cars have 50 pounds of pressure. So when you get a hole in the fuel line EVERYTHING gets sprayed with gas for a equal fire everywhere.

It seems like a good method but I would think the insulated wires would be encapsulated with no conductor or terminal making contact with the fuel. Seems to me like it could cause a grounding problem and possibly nuisance conductivity issues even though the conductivity of fuel is so low that it is considered to be a dielectric.

have you thought about shrouding your old radiator? Or new one when ever it gets in? Front shrouding is as important as the rear shrouding. It's what the modern OEM brands do... "small" radiator packed into an even smaller space, behind all the other radiators. But with proper shrouding and good fans, no problems! Good luck. Hope you make the deadline.

Thats just held on with plastic hose clamp snap onto pickup tube,,But no other bracket or support to keep pump in place ,, So I Put back onto stem resnap clamp n wire tie n make support bracket onto pump to prevent it from falling off again,,,SO LIKE I SAID ,, U CAN NEVER BE TOO SAFE ON FUEL SYSTEMS ,,GO THE LITTLE EXTRA,, I AM STILL DRIVING IT WITH OVER 350K MILES ,,AND NO FUEL PROBLEMS ,,
