Blazing Leaf-and on top of everything,he had only recently launched his singing career,the previous summer,as you know. I think,though,that,like Patsy Cline,Ritchie had also sensed his time was coming. At least the way he kept having those "prophetic" dreams,about his best friend's end,as seen in the movie La Bamba,he may well have sensed his end was coming fairly soon,and it did.

One of my favorites of Ritchie's, rare though this one is(unlike his few public hits, like Donna, La Bamba, and Come On Let's Go, of course)-to me, this song is even like "a picture of a typical April day," with showers and cloudy skies, of course-this, and another song from the same album,"Ritchie's Blues,"an instrumental, which he played using a pencil to strum his guitar strings. Just watched the "live"version of this, with him on guitar singing this(at his home, it looks like)and singing into a microphone.)

I have this on Ritchie's album entitled "Ritchie,"which is on a cassette that I purchased in 1989(it was recently made,in 1987.) So naturally you won't find that baby in stores anymore. Hope that helped,since you really wanted to know,and sorry for the delay in responding.

Such a nice song. Reminds me of the eighties, when I'd get up early to listen to the now-late Rockin' John Henry's "Saturday Morning Bandstand." He'd often play my increasingly obscure requests if I made them early enough in the morning. If he didn't have the actual, physical records with him, he'd often go home to his personal, garage collection, and bring them in and play them the next Saturday. A almost all of that's long-gone from radio. Nowadays, they very cleverly and deceitfully call it "The listener line," knowing full-well they have no intention whatsoever of playing actual requests. Only slight downside here is that I have an embarrassing memory of getting a little sloshed on Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and making the same request twice. Oops, Let's not forget some guy named Richie Valens!
