I've also been keeping an eye out for the beat-up old green truck. So far there has been a beat-up truck in every episode but not always a green one. In this episode, it was a green truck and the headlights exploded. So the glass theme and the truck theme were combined.

Actually, I think this episode is better than some X Files segments. It looks at Tesla Technology, underground bases and government developed UFO's.

@WOLFROY47 That's a viable explanation for how the Organization generated the UFO that is witnessed by the crowds of people during the magnetic coil tests (e.g., the sighting at the beginning). But I'm not sure it explains the spacecraft that is seen up-close by Hank and then by Tom; when they see it, it's far too close (low altitude) to be a projection against the clouds. I suspect that when Hank and Tom see the ship, it's actually a hallucination induced by the same technology that the Organization uses to impart false memories into people (that's probably the buried object in the field that zaps them and causes them to grab their temples in pain). Either way: I remember 10-year old me watching this episode when it aired, and being disappointed at the end, when the episode never explained how the Organization was generating the UFO sightings.

Exactly. When "The X-Files" was popular, there was a brief period of time in the mid-90s when every TV show had to have a UFO sighting/alien abduction episode (e.g., the first season of "JAG" had an episode about a Mexican cartel using UFO sightings as a cover to smuggle cocaine). I guess that this show's producers felt the need to jump on that same bandwagon.

***** I don't give anything the "down vote", my grandmother said "If I can't help you I won't hinder you." Now that I have actually finished the series I can say it really was a gem, but even gems have rough spots and this episode was one of those for me. I don't like to compare TV shows but instead evaluate them on their own merits. I think X-Files was very good in its time, not meaning to say it feels dated but the themes of Nowhere Man are much more timely and even relevant today. I was happy that IMDB recommended the show and that KZbin had full episodes. I have a greater appreciation for Bruce Greenwood who by the way has aged phenomenally. I did think the ending was a bit anti-climatic, I would have enjoyed seeing another season to see if they could still propel the story and keep us invested in the character.

Following the episode where his wife and mother betray him, he should have went back to the pretty woman at the farm and lived out his life. IMO, he had no reason to continue to seek answers. His past was truly gone. I was surprised that Tom trusted his wife again at the courthouse. It was obvious to me, as I'm sure that it was to many of you, that she was lying and part of the plot. After hiding the negatives under the child's toy, and she left the note asking how he found out, apparently it turns out that he didn't believe her either. That should have been the point that he should have realized that his past was history, and to look toward the best thing in his current, and that was the girl on the farm.

When the government approached the makers of this show. They were told they were getting to close to the truth and wanted to help them with some of the show. After months of haggling with the government they decided to cancel the show.

I like this show but this episode got me on the wrong foot. It seems that Tom Veil does not care to kill so many people by throwing the "metal object" to the machine. In the process he manages to drive the young woman into insanity. Before this episode he mainly killed people if they were after his live and he did not have another chance.I hope he does better next time! By this time his only objective seems to be to get his life back, no matter how many people he will harm or even kill in the process. Maybe thats what you become, when you are treated the way he is.

I agree. The series started out well and got good reviews. Then it went downhill until we have dumb episodes like this one. Now Thomas Veil is a cold blooded killer who doesn't mind the deaths or the driving a woman insane.

It did seem sort of random how he threw that metal thing into the machine. It was like he got all frustrated when he learned that the physicist was also in on the plot against him and he just lost it and threw the thing without thinking at all.
