I’m fortunate, that is the way I wake in the mornings. I live in a tiny tiny one room home in the Vienna Woods and every morning is a glorious cacophony of birdsong and on windy days the constant sway of trees and the Sound of the wind moving through them.

My grandfather was an architect and for retirement he designed himself a modern "treehouse" on the Oregon Coast on a cliff looking over the ocean. This reminds me so much of that. I miss that home it was so magical to visit there. The pacific northwest is magical, and it doesn't surprise me that another architect wanted to build a similar home for themselves. Great video :)

As soon as I heard this treehouse was facing south, it made me think about the sunlight that the house would get from morning until early afternoon :-). Places (esp. when it comes to getting an apartment in Korea) facing south are most preferred and it was great to hear about what Mr. Olson learned during his studies abroad. Thank you, Nowness, for all these amazing clips and narrations!

I bought a block of land similar to this about 5 yrs ago (without the beach, just bush) Many aspects of this house is what I dream of building so I had a big smile on my face watching this. Waking up to the birds chirping, nestled amongst the trees, either doing yoga on the balcony or snuggled up on a comfortable hammock chair sipping coffee. I dream of that everyday. Bliss.

You have the results, of course the beautiful results. But then you have the architectural plans, the 3d model, the physics and engineering of this object. All of that is beautiful too. The irony is that we do not get paid for making all those things. We get paid for THINKING and solving architectural problems. Jim Olson gave an outstanding solution that deserves recognition. He had fun doing what he loves the most.

I am stunned by Jim's narrative about 'place'. While the house is interesting, the narrative about becoming part of nature whether you want to or not is the gift of this house. I know if I ever can find a home like this, it would be the completion of my journey in life and the full interior is a side note, though the few images of some of the spaces shows an extraordinary place to be. Most of it is outside where it should be.

It's so futuristic, yet so atemporal. As my head also can see other posibilities, just for loving the architecture as an explorative issue, how would it tourn out if the color was incorporated in some technical spaces (like, yellow in the light green rooftop metal beam or using glass in all the facades… just's because you might be seen from the front window flying over the vegetation, like you were levitating.
