Total twist to the werewolf genre… Jack Nicholson is awesome so totally toned down to this mild mannered editor who is hewn with one of the greatest powers of folklore.. the concept that the wolf can be more then a mindless blood fueled monster but instead a projection of the person inside to guide its motivations.. very powerful underlying stuff here.. great movie great acting all around.

He claims that one does not have to be bitten to be changed, but rather only the passion is enough in some cases. That could explain the ending in the case of Laura.

Either that or Will gave her a love bite during sex, unbeknownst to us. Just a thought. Who knows?

Right. She wasn't bitten. She was attracted to Jack because he was becoming a wolf & she already was one. She had the passion of the wolf and didn't need to be bitten.

6:37 The question to my mind is if he's refusing because he doesn't want to pass on this potentially horrible curse, or if he's refusing because he feels ridiculous biting an old man's Hand?

the latter

The latter, obviously. The man asked to be bitten and it would have cured him of his terminal illness.

Such an underrated movie, I was a kid when I watched it, watxhed it again as I got older. Needs more credit than what it got.

"You'd rather be damned than die?" Something about that line just hits you because some of us ask that question when we are in the most dire of circumstances because we fear death naturally.

That's odd. According to a photo of him in 2010, he had a full head of white hair and his face is no more aged in 2010 than when this movie was made in 1994.

I think the first two Acts of this film is the best Werewolf Movie ever made, now if the third act went more "The Howling" or "An American Werewolf in London" in it's special effects I think this would have been perfect! And they could have, Rick Baker work on this.
As a wolf myself I feel I have a right to an opinion on this dam it!

I think one thing that would have made the scene better is that after Jack refuses to bite him, the camera would show him leaving and then cut back to the professor as he looks down at the tea cup that Jack just drank from. This would be to imply that even if he didn’t get the bite, maybe he could touch his lips to the cup where Jack did. Would it work?
@SubwayProphet25 күн бұрын
Why does he even need to be bitten if the passion alone is enough?
