Savage 1907 32acp. "Ten shots quick"
@jimdrake-writer8 күн бұрын
The 1907 Savage was the first American handgun with a double-stack magazine. With ten rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber before the magazine was inserted, the small (6-1/2") lightweight (19 oz. loaded) 1907 Savage was a formidable weapon, either in .32 ACP or .380 ACP. Arthur Savage, its designer, paid Bat Masterson to endorse the pistol in printed ads. "A tenderfoot with a Savage Automatic," said Masterson, "could have run the worst six-shooter the West ever knew right off the range."

This film is more ridiculous than I remember. Why on earth would a hitman even engage with his target much less do everything possible to signal his true nature to him? Especially when his target is on the run and already on high alert for anyone out of the ordinary? Even more especially when his target is just as dangerous and deadly as he is? We're supposed to believe that the Jude Law character is really a serial killer who just happens to be a hitman too and likes to toy with his prey? Bullshit - serial killers are cowards who always seek out the easiest victims who have no chance of fighting back. They dont look for challenges. The occupations of sadistic serial killer and hitman are diametrically opposed and incompatible. An effective hitman must be a model of professionalism and patience whereas a serial killer is ultimately just a crazy nut who cant be relied upon for anything (as the unnecessary murder of the policeman demonstrates). Why on earth would a serious mafia organization that wants its affairs handled quickly and quietly hire such a man? People will say "Ah its only a movie - just go with it" but what they dont realize is that subconsciously we are all constantly reality-checking what we see on the screen to see if it tracks with what we know and understand about the real world. When what we see is constantly being undercut by what we know about the real world then it takes you out of the movie and lowers the stakes until ultimately we just dont care anymore cos its all such obvious fake nonsense. Such movies can still be entertaining to watch but they wont have a fraction of the power/impact that they could have had. Having said that there are moments when it is appropriate for a movie to leave realism behind for various reasons but only when its necessary and only when theyve done the work of properly grounding the movie in reality first. The above scene is the first encounter between the protagonist and antagonist and theyre already throwing all reality out the window with both hands. The movie is attractively shot but narratively nonsensical - and that matters!

He said it himself "To get paid for what you love to do." - the fun for him is not just in the killing, but the pursuit - the trapping of the target.
