Nowt but VALENTAS!!

Now to address the balance a little, and live up to the "TRAIN" part of my user name, I present "Nowt but VALENTAS" seeing as HST's are all the rage now, especially the dwindling number still fitted with the original Paxman power units (instead of that MTU rubbish) I felt it was time to put together a little montage of archive camcorder clips that I took in the late 90's of HST's on their old stomping grounds, most of the filming was done at Leamington Spa, but also their are clips from Fenny Compton, Doncaster and Tyseley, Enjoy :)

@grinderbroweng When the IC225 sets were first introduced on the ECML, the Mk4 DVT's had not been delivered yet so they converted a number of HST power cars to act as DVT's they not only provided push-pull driving control at the opposite end of the train to the loco but they could also be used to power the train from the front with the Class 91 at the back this created a Super Train capable of impressive power & acceleration capabilities, until the Mk4 DVT came into service that is...

@grinderbroweng I believe HST work like Locos in multiple working mode but as they are top and tail on the train I think there is a slight time delay in the power being applied by the rear power car

only just realising the beauty of the 125's i recall now going to york in one in the late nineties but having to stop at a station up north,i think sheffield? , and the beast having to have some water added cause it was overheating and reading the same week branson slagging off the old stock he got from br and saying it was broke when he got it.since learned they suffered from thermal stress from idling for long periods then given some stick and it couldnt cope with temp diff.mods were done.....

A splendid video - it is quite a thing to see and hear the HSTs as they were originally built - and as I remember them! Would you have any objection if I were to use fragments of the audio from this and other of your videos as sound effects in a free, open-source non-commercial computer game called Simutrans under the Artistic Licence 1.0 (opensource.org/licenses/Artistic-1.0)? I should happily credit you, of course.

they can't be as all the clips were filmed before the MTU came into service, if they were anything different then they may have been VP185's
