@hillbilly beer dranker And the purchasing of the books was reported to the Federal Election Commission, meaning that he could not personally profit from the royalties. In situations like this the money made in royalties from the books purchased by the campaign would have to go to a charity. And yes he has 3 houses. One in vermont (personal), one in DC (work), and a vacation home (which many Vermont individuals have). And as hes said several times, he'd be happy paying his fair share of taxes. It's like the question posed at one of the debates: when asked "The congressional insurance just got a boost, would Congress go to Medicare for All?" And instantly his response was "Yes."
@Richard-sy1ej4 жыл бұрын
@hillbilly beer dranker That's an absolutely braindead argument. You may as well ask why doesn't Bernie go and work in soup kitchens? You're making bullshit strawman arguments that don't hold any water. Bernie has said repeatedly that he is happy to live under the rules that he is proposing, even those that could impact him financially. Under Bernie's Medicare for all plan, most people will end up paying LESS for medical care. Higher tax rates for the wealthiest people in society isn't a new or dumb idea - it happened during the MOST PROSPEROUS PERIOD of America's history. The wealth gap between the rich and the poor is the greatest it has EVER been in America's history. The top 1% of Americans own 35% of America's wealth. The bottom 80% own 11%. When you look at income rather than overall wealth, the picture is slightly better, and the figures indicate a slightly progressive tax system (i.e. the wealthy pay more than the poor as a percentage of income - or at least reported taxable income). But the truth is that many of those people in the 1% have so much money that they could not conceivably exhaust their wealth before death even through extravagant spending. Taking slightly more from those who do not want for anything in order to give those unlucky enough to be born into a poor family the chance to make something of themselves isn't communist - it's called being a decent fucking human being.

@hillbilly beer dranker "Lead by example" and hypocrisy argument... Sure, let's go with the bad faith rethoric. People do give to charity, and they do try, even Sanders donates to charity (the amount varies from time to time)yet he doesn't believe in philanthropy, because in His view the state suppose to be the one who takes care of the people, and should push for social reforms. It kinda makes sense.. the government has the power to achieve more than one person or many people combined.. you even might say the government has the power of a nation. And well, look at it like this, if the reforms he advocates for pass he will send off the share of money he advocates he should pay, through taxes. So I'd he passes those reforms he sure will have to lead by example.. what's the problem with that?

Dear Americans. I need to tell you that the whole world is impatiently waiting for you guys to choose a president who can make the world a better place. I'm an Iranian an I need to tell you contrary to what you might have been told, almost all of the Iranians (99.99 percent leaving some room for mistake) like Americans and the US a lot. We love to see the day that we can someday have you guys as ally. This can't happen with Trump. He does not want to negotiate with Iran. He wants to keep our country in a limbo state and it's not even because of our regime! It is for countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia to sell more oil and gas and to put pressure over china that was our number one cruide oil customer. Iranians, the same people who love you, are suffering from never ending sanctions. Please choose a president who is willing to help the PEOPEL around the world not the corrupt leaders of several countries. Please save us!!! Everything can be solved through dialogue not constant fighting.

How do some people not understand that appropriation of taxes is the problem. People already pay taxes which is used for public schools, hospitals, govt services, roads, wars, etc. Why do people not have a problem with current "socialist" services provided by govt, but they freak out about insurance and colleges? He is just saying to tax the right way, and use the tax funds to do what's needed, not waste it on unnecessary wars etc.

Bernie has already won. He has transformed the playing field, shown the electorate that they can dream big again and that they can fund campaigns. All platforms are permanently altered by his firm stance on the kitchen table issues that affect us all. Kudos for Sanders. There will be no going back and that is his biggest legacy. God bless..

In Europe a lot of countries including mine have basically "medicare for all"... it works... yeah, there are waiting lists and yeah, the budget "shows"... but it works, and if you do have money, you can go to a private one anyway...
@madman2u3 жыл бұрын
Yup. Many Americans seem to think that government run healthcare means they'd have no other options. Couldn't be farther from the truth. People can still choose to go private and they'd still be covered by the government run healthcare. Their taxes may be a bit higher, but we all benefit from lessening the individual financial load. After all. People who live longer have more opportunities to contribute towards the advancement of society and the human race. Don't see how one can argue against that.

Bernie is a man who knows what is right for the common man and woman of the US. I live in Sweden, Europe. We've had free public health care and free public education for almost a hundred years. And yes, we pay high taxes, but what we pay to the state and public society we get back a hundredfold when we are seriously sick, when we get all kinds of education and when we use public transportation or depend on a working society as a whole. I love Sweden and Sweden loves me right back through a basic safety net made of these things.
