Has anyone in the fanbase stopped to look at thefact that Natsu and Lucy didn't kiss in the final chapter from an in universe perspective? Seriously. Let's just think about it this way for a moment. By the final chapter one year has passed since the end of the Alvarez War. Most of the main pairings were confermed except for two, Natsu and Lucy, and Jellal and Erza. It was implied that Jellal and Erza are dating in secret by Lucy saying that Erza "Had been doing her hair" ever since Jellal and his guild got pardoned. Natsu isn't the type of person to openly show his romantic feelings for someone like Lucy. The way I look at them not kissing at the end is two ways. #1: Natsu and Lucy did start dating at some point in the one year timeskip between the end of the Alvarez War and the start of the final chapter. And #2: They are not dating YET! But they will start at some point in the very near future. THINK ABOUT IT! The series ends off with them going on the century quest. So will everyone please quite harrassing Mashima for not conferming the Nalu ship or we won't get a continuation of Fairy Tail.

It makes sense to do it that way. It'd be out of character for Natsu to come out and say, "I love you Lucy, and want to be together forever" and far more like him to say it as "I thought we were already together, but I want to be with you always." Also, I think as far as Lucy writing the story goes, it's likely that the story was her writing everything she experienced and learned into rewriting the E.N.D. book to keep Natsu from dying.

That's the thing. In Japanese saying "Let's be together forever" (or "zutto isshoni" ずっと一緒に) is a common indirect way to say "I love you". Mostly because, for the longest time, Japanese men expressing their feelings in a direct way was borderline taboo, specially among samurai. Thus, they had to use work arounds. Natsu being so combat orientated, it makes sense that he used it. Still, the way it's portrayed, it's some world-class trolling. lol

Well Lucy did say after finding out what she made Natsu do say "Oh great, I cant get married any more." Thats also when the flashbacks start and then in the end Natsu's reply to the whole end as you guys said was"We will be together forever." I dont know what. The ANTI NALU fans are doing but there has yet to be a ship that legitimately has yet to say anything close to we will be together forever. Well other than Gajeel and Levy with the whole cough baby mention. In Japanese in particular its quite formal and as far as language goes its more "passive" and immature than a 4 year old when it comes to confessing love. As also with Japanese its a very intimate thing to go out and say that you love something. So in a sense saying that your going to be with someone forever is pretty much almost identical to saying marriage. XD. Especially with Japanese not to mention Natsu is technically in debt to Lucy. As she pulled off a feat 99% of the cast would have died attempting. (Natsu+rebirth vs Zeref)
