@13:46 I recall about 10 years ago in some science show (I can't for the life of me remember it's name!) where they showed 'future' technologies and one of them was 'micro engines' that run on a fuel that you could fill using a compressed can (like the butane fillers for lighters). This meant having tiny engines that were as small as about 1cm x 1cm (or so) and they said these would provide something like 5 days of run time for mobile phones, etc. At the time I thought wow how amazing, but now I think GM could actually be trying that...

We had 2 Powerwall-2's installed in June 2018 to complement our 13.2 kWh solar PV system. They have worked exceptionally well to make us a microgrid for 9+ months of the year using zero grid energy and exporting lots of excess solar back to grid, while also charging our two Tesla's (MS and M3).

I've was at 97 for about a week until a bad day dropped off the safety score, and jumped up to 99. I was in the process of driving around yesterday in my Model Y, when I noticed I was getting an over the air update via LTE instead of the usual WIFI. I was heading to a supercharger anyway, and after charging to 70%, I unplugged, moved to an empty parking spot nearby and let it update. 30 minutes later, my Model Y now has the FSD beta. Let's just say there's a lot of kinks in it still, but it was also kind of awesome watching the car do left/right turns on city streets, and I love the visualizations that lets you see a lot of cars/bikes/pedestrians on the center screen. Also love that it no longer needs approval to go through a green light, though it still struggles a little at blinking yellow/red lights. But it's fun taking part in this, and helping Autopilot to be even better.

I get the feeling GM feels the help from government they don't have to ramp up production. That government is going to help them transition and give them time. Hi Peter. Good question. As someone who has followed every step Tesla has taken since they started, I can provide a layman's answer. Fisker, who was working as a Consultant for Tesla to design their original Model S, proposed the use of a solar roof to Tesla back in 2009/10 ish. However, he was a Car Designer, not an engineer and didn't fully grasp the cost Vs benefit situation. Remember, Elon's cousins were working with Elon to create Solar City using Solar panels, so Elon and Tesla knew all the latest info. Bottom line: the benefit re gaining of power/energy providing miles to travel that could be generated by panels on the roof of a car did not justify the additional cost. That was 10/12 years ago and even now, with much better technology, they only generate around 1500 miles PER YEAR. It was seen as emergency power. 3 to 4 miles per day. Enough to limp to the nearest EV charger if the car's batteries were dead. Fisker, however, still put it on his cars. It's purely a marketing gimmick, until tech breakthroughs make it viable. However, special wings of panels have been proposed as an accessory for the Cybertruck. So they can be opened up if Cyber is used for camping and provide around 20-30 miles per day. Or more, if larger spread of panels. There are a number of European companies that have been working on the "solar panels on car roof" situations for the last decade. No one YET has managed to make it feasible/viable. Cheers.

...in UK, there is a new law that requires all new house builds shall include a charging station on the deploy.. this is a very forward thinking development, i think.. all new houses to be built in the USA shall require that these builds includes a charging station.. perhaps shud also include a solar roof and a battery storage system.. this prepares the future for renewable energy and the seamless shift to sustainable/ renewable energy.. obviously, these moves will greatly impact the power generation industries.. but if the utilities does not adopt to renewables, they will soon be out of business.. if they dont adopt, the users will adopt, coz the choices are now at hand.. i do like all utilities that gives house owners an option to go for renewables, as part of their offering/ program.. just like the auto industry, the energy sector will soon shift to renewables, sooner than you think..

I think you guys are absolutely correct on the drunk driver detection. What a huge potential for error. Also, what about stoned driving? Seems to me in legal marijuana states, that would be just as bad, so why aren't they throwing that in there too?

Stoned driving just isn’t that big of an issue. Alcohol makes you think you are invincible and more capable, cannabis has the reverse effect. Also, the system isn’t likely to check your breath, but your eyes, so it could detect that

I would like to see an illustration of the math in calculating a 600% reduction in carbon footprint in knitting a pair of Vessy shoes. Last time I looked it was not possible to reduce a real number by more than 100%. Can somebody enlighten me here?
